Unfortunately, in the Spanish literature there has been relatively little mention of the fate of these numerous units before the purchase and after the end of the Spanish-American War of 1898. Based on the findings of the author's analysis of data from Spanish and American print media, the author puts forth a supposition that the New-York "water buses" Shrewsbury and Navesink sold by the US in 1895 would turn into the Spanish gunboats Intrépida and Mensajera. It is likely that during the deal process they could have temporary names, General Laborde and General Tacón. Both powerboats were actively used in blockade operations against the insurgents in 1896–97, and after the Spanish-American War they were dropped from the Spanish fleet. That said, Intrépida became one of the first ships within the naval fleet of the young Cuban republic led by Antonio ...

In the scientific and local history literature, there is often a mention of the steamer “Granata”, acquired by Izhevsk plants during the World War I. Unfortunately, in most works, information about the ship is reduced only to the very fact that there was such a ship. Analysis of graphic images and textual documentation shows that the Izhevsk steamer “Granata” is apparently a serially built steamer at the Votkinsk plant. But the analysis of biographies according to the data of registers and ship lists unambiguously showed that the Votkinsk plant by 1914 had not built steamers with an unknown fate, with characteristics similar to the “Granata”. On the other hand, the existing steamers “Krasnovodsk” (i) and “Oriet”, whose biography by 1914 is not clear, differ too much in characteristics from the “Granata” and it would take a lot of money and time...

Based on the analysis of the office documentation of Izhevsk’s Plants, it was concluded that it is impossible at this enterprise to shipbuilding not reflected in the documentation. In this regard, it was concluded that the existing indications of the construction site of the “Izhevsk’s Plant” do not refer to the “Izhevsk’s Arms and Steel Plants”, but to the settlement – the village of Izhevsk’s Plant. The most likely candidate for the Izhevsk private steamer is the merchant I.I. Bodalev (senior). Earlier, analyzing his activities at the brewery, N.P. Ligenko concluded that Bodalev gradually began to take control of all technological chains, from the production of raw materials to the transportation of finished products. Based on documentation available, the authors were able to ascertain the parameters that could be used to characterize the effectiveness of the pneumatic guns. In the process, some errors in previous literature were found.

In the numerous works that address the issue, scholars tend to see reasons of a political nature, shortcomings in the organization and planning by the Italian Navy, indecisive political leadership, and so on. But all agree that technically the Italian fleet was superior to British ships deployed in the Mediterranean area, and in this regard the defeat of the Italians is seen as paradoxical. In this paper, the authors explore the theory that the poor showing of the Italian navy may have resulted from the errors of the political, military and technical leadership in the prewar period, in particular in the performance of the Italian naval artillery.

It is shown that despite the objective difficulties with the construction of new ships, innovations in the industry in Spain was given great importance. Due to the nature of foreign policy the late 1880-s new military shipbuilding had clearly colonial orientation with a focus on high-speed cruiser. Problems of foreign and domestic policy of the earlier 1890-s not given the opportunity to fully implement the program of military shipbuilding, tightening it until the 1910-s, which was one of the reasons for the defeat in the Spanish-American War.

But if in the major cities of the Pre-Urals, the old wooden quarters were demolished for serial building in the middle of the 20th century, the center of Votkinsk retained its almost original appearance of the mid-19th century. As a result, the carved terraced windows are no longer so massively represented in other cities of Udmurtia and the Urals. Nevertheless, due to economic activity, the private sector of Votkinsk is actively being built up, and the owners of wooden houses that are not architectural monuments everywhere are replacing carved terraced windows with plastic windows that are more comfortable in everyday life. As a result, it is likely that in a couple of decades such an expressive element of Russian wooden architecture as the Votkinsk carved terrace windows can be lost forever. Therefore, the objective of this work consisted, firstly, in photo fixing windows still available in V...

It is devoted to cyclical and trend dynamics in society and nature; special attention is paid to economic and demographic aspects, in particular to the mathematical modeling of the Malthusian and post-Malthusian traps' dynamics. An increasingly important role is played by new directions in historical research that study long-term dynamic processes and quantitative changes. This kind of history can hardly develop without the application of mathematical methods. There is a tendency to study history as a system of various processes, within which one can detect waves and cycles of different lengths – from a few years to several centuries, or even millennia. The contributions to this yearbook present a qualitative and quantitative analysis of global historical, political, economic and demographic processes, as well as their mathematical models. This issue of the yearbook consists of three main sections: (I) Long-Term Trends in Nature and Society; (II) Cyclical Processes in Pre-industrial Societies; (III) Contemporary History and Processes. We hope that this issue of the yearbook will be interesting and useful both for historians and mathematicians, as well as for all those dealing with various social and natural sciences.
