Available data indicate that she is losing renewable natural resources beyond sustainable limits. Economic and natural resource systems interact in many important ways, hence the need to understand these interactions and develop effective public policy. The dynamic interactions of resource degradation with socioeconomic factors are neither well understood in Nigeria, nor are their implications for Vision 20:2020. This study explored the inherent dynamic interactions and feedback between the nation’s environment and socioeconomic spheres. The study shows that a bi-directional or feedback relationship exists between the index of resource degradation and Nigeria’s socioeconomic profile with sustained effects over a ten-year horizon. This study, therefore, recommends a more comprehensive holistic and sustainable development path, and strategies and policies that integrate rural development and renewable natural resources management in order to tackle the complex, diverse and deeply rooted issues underlying the worsening resource degradation in Nigeria and improve the nation's bio-capacity.

This data article presents relevant national and city-level data on patterns, trend, and impacts of reported urban infrastructure-related displacements in Nigeria between 2010 and 2016. The data of reported cases of displacements in Nigeria is presented in tabular matrix with, on the one hand, nested rows designated as six Sub-regions, 36 States and Abuja Federal Capital Territory, and Case Location/Local Government Area, and, on the other, 14 columns of variables. The rows were itemized correspondingly as follows: Type of infrastructure project; Mode of displacement; Status of displacement; Mechanisms of displacement; Reasons given for displacement; Project funder/initiator; Type of displacement; Number of people/persons affected; Reported social characteristics of people affected; Response of those affected; Action(s) Outcome; Source(s) of information and link; Date(s) reported; and Notes. By synthesizing secondary information sources on the subject matter, it is hoped that this data will bridge the information gap and lay a solid foundation for a repository of existing and future information, while serving as a resource for advocacy at national and sub-national levels

This Nigeria case study focuses on the Nigerian agricultural sector in the contexts of West African Agriculture and the ECOWAS Common Agricultural Policy. It seeks to develop a Nigerian perspective and standpoint for the formulation of the ECOWAS Common Agricultural Policy Framework. It envisions regional approaches and scenarios for the development of Nigerian agriculture within the overall setting of ECOWAS regional integration process. By design, this analysis will feed into the Background Document for the preparation of the ECOWAS Common Agricultural Policy Framework. The study is based on critical review of secondary information/data on Nigerian agriculture and its regional features in relation to the ECOWAS common agricultural policy.
