The continuous evaluation is a key issue in E-learning. In this work, a methodology that makes use of artificial intelligence techniques to support automatic continuous evaluation processes is proposed. This methodology evaluates apportions of each student and the solutions to their assigned tasks on a continuous basis

Each standard defines its own information models, so that, in order to promote the interoperability among standard-compliant information systems, the different information models must be semantically integrated. In this work, we present an ontological approach to promote interoperability among CEN- and OpenEHR-compliant information systems.

An ontological model is the kernel used for specifyingontologies so that how close an ontology can be from the real worlddepends on the possibilities offered by the ontological model. Inthis paper, an ontological model that permits the specification ofconcepts, attributes, mereological and taxonomic relationships, andstructural axioms, and that has already been applied to differentapplication domains is extended to contain topologicalrelationships as well. It is demonstrated in this paper thattopological relations can be established on ontologies built withthat ontological model, and the topological relations are notestablished by the user but inferred from the knowledge containedin the particular ontology. The domain chosen for this work is therelation between drugs consumption and cancer diagnoses.

An ontological model that covers several types of relations between concepts is described. Also, an ontology editor for building ontologies according to this particular ontological model is presented in this paper and its benefits and drawbacks with respect to other available ontological

In particular, there is an ample consensus about the necessity of new computational systems capable of processing images and “understand” what they contain. Such systems would ideally allow to retrieve multimedia content, to improve the way of storing

For this purpose, we need a complete knowledge model for representing biological system. In this paper, we deal with both processes for the creation and integration of shareable, reusable domain models within biology, which is a critical issue. In particular, this work introduces a new cooperative development approach for biology ontologies. This approach is based on the integration of the ontologies supplied by different human experts. Two experiments in biological domains are presented and their results discussed.
