This paper presents an ontology architecture concept for the European Space Agency‘s (ESA) Space Situational Awareness (SSA) Program. It incorporates the author‘s domain ontology, The Space Situational Awareness Ontology and related ontology work. I summarize computational ontology, discuss the segments of ESA SSA, and introduce an option for a modular ontology framework reflecting the divisions of the SSA program. Among other things, ontologies are used for data sharing and integration. By applying ontology to ESA data, the ESA may better achieve its integration and innovation goals, while simultaneously improving the state of peaceful SSA.

This paper discusses the approach of ontology-based knowledge engineering in FF POIROT, a project to explore the use of ontology technology in information systems against financial fraud. A fraud forensic ontology is being developed from laws, regulations and cases about illegal solicitation of financial products on the web. The knowledge development is based on the DOGMA ontology paradigm, and the derived ontology engineering methodology AKEM. The regulatory ontology engineering is a multi-disciplinary and distributed team work through a series of tasks and deliverables with emphasis on the traceability of decision making in the development. The machine ontology extraction and a manually constructed bilingual terminological database, is used to support the ontology modelling process.

Distribution management system has been implemented and utilized by utilities around the world to support the system operators in their decision making process especially when emergencies occur in the distribution system. The system can vary from utility to utility due to the complexity of each system. This inevitably leads to the importance of the Distribution Management System design in order to get the system life cycle assessment. This paper presents an advantage of using a knowledge engineering technique along with knowledge management theory as an alternative approach in designing the Distribution Management System for Metropolitan Electricity Authority, Thailand. The results of this paper show that knowledge engineering technique is suitable to solve the designing problems of the Distribution Management System. Furthermore, this framework can also help utility capture, utilize and update their existing knowledge in designing their own system. Moreover, the comparison with consultant study is also introduced.

Abstract - Information and knowledge engineering is a significant field for various applications on processes around the globe. This investigation paper provides an overview of the status of development of the concept and how it relates to other areas such as information technology. The area that is of primary concern to this research is the connection with artificial intelligence. There is a revelation that knowledge engineering derives most of its operational domains from the principles of that concept. There is also a strong relation with the area of software development. As the research shows, they both have the same end products and procedures of attaining it. They both produce a computer program that deals with a particular issue in their contexts. The discussion also focuses on the two modeling approaches that are canonical probabilistic and decision based software processes. There is a description of the typical knowledge engineering process that each activity has to go through for efficient operation. The paper also takes a look at of the applications of knowledge-based systems in the industry.
