The study was conducted to determine: the types of real-time information processing technologies used by supermarkets in Nairobi, Kenya; their benefits; and to establish the relationship between real-time information and supply chain optimization. The research adopted a descriptive cross-sectional survey of the supermarkets. Data was collected through questionnaires, analyzed using SPSS and presented in tables and figures. The study revealed that all the supermarkets use real-time information

This approach integrates the advantage of grey systems theory and TOPSIS to evaluate and rank value chain performance. Grey-TOPSIS approach has been applied to measure and rank the value chain performance of various firms. The results indicate that the proposed model is useful to facilitate multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) problem under the environment of uncertainty and vagueness. The model also provides an appropriate ranking order based on the available alternatives. The Grey-TOPSIS approach that will be useful to the managers to use for solving the similar type of decision-making problems in their firms in the future has been discussed. Even though, the problem of choosing a suitable performance option is often addressed in practice and research, very few studies are available in the literature of Grey-TOPSIS decision models. Also, Grey-TOPSIS model application in the tea processing firms is non-existence hence this study is the very first to apply this model in evaluating value chain performance in the tea processing firms.

The purpose of this study was to link constraints management to capacity utilization of tea processing firms by focusing on a Kenyan developing economy. Specifically the study determines the relationship between constraints management and capacity utilization of tea processing firms in Kenya. A multiple linear regression and correlation models were performed on a sample that included 84 firms operating in the Kenyan tea industry for the period 2008–2012. The study established that the relationship between constraints management and the firm's capacity utilization is significant and positive.

Thus, organizations are designing various strategies to enable them create competitive advantage and improve the welfare of their stakeholders. This paper sought to establish the mediation role of capacity utilization in the relationship between operations constraint management and value chain performance among tea processing firms based on perspectives from Kenya. Specifically the study sought to answer the following research question: Is there a mediating role played by capacity utilization on the relationship between operations constraint management and value chain performance of tea processing firms in Kenya. The study adopted a cross-sectional research design. A sample of eighty-four (84) tea processing firms was used, and the respondents were the factory Chief accountants, production managers, and the environmental representatives. Multiple regression and correlation analysis were used to analyze the data. The findings show that the moderating effect of capacity utilization in the relationship between operations constraints management and the firm's value chain performance is positive and significant. Applying the Theory of Constraints (TOC) philosophy in the decision-making process in managing capacity, will improve the capacities of the bottleneck resources hence increase the Throughput and creating competitive advantage.

The research gaps include the research findings and results on the relationship between supply chain strategies and firm performance that have been contradicting and no attempt to clear the contradictions; biased and unbalanced analysis of the different measures of firm performance, and failure to use weighted scores to measure firm performance. Resource-Based View guided this study. A sample of one hundred and thirty-eight (138) firms was drawn using proportionate sampling from a population of six hundred and twenty-seven (627) large-scale manufacturing firms in Kenya. The response rate was seventy-five (75) percent. The correlation analysis and regression analysis models were used to test the hypotheses. The study findings indicate that Supply chain strategies are useful predictors of the firm's performance as supply chain strategies explain 76.7 % of the changes in the firm's performance.

The purpose of this study is to determine the extent to which supply chain technology moderates the relationship between supply chain strategies and performance of large-scale manufacturing firms in Kenya. Proportionate sampling was used to obtain a sample of one hundred and thirty-eight (138) from a population of six hundred and twenty-seven (627) large scale manufacturing firms. The descriptive statistics, reliability and validity tests of the constructs, correlation analysis, regression analysis and factor analysis models were used to test the hypotheses. The findings indicate that there is a strong significant relationship between supply chain technologies, supply chain strategies and firm performance, implying that both supply chain technology and supply chain strategies explain 88.2 % of the changes in the firm's performance. The net effect of both supply chain strategies and technologies is explained by the coefficient of product moderating variable (SC Strategy*Technology beta = 0.532) which shows that supply chain technology is a significant moderator of the relationship between supply chain strategies and firm performance. This study cleared some contradictions to support the position that firms should invest in supply chain configurations and technologies that lead to improved service delivery accompanied by enhanced operational and overall firm performance

The study specifically set out to establish the extent to which mobile phone service providers have implemented procurement risk management practices and to determine the relationship between procurement risk management practices and supply chain performance. The study adopted a descriptive study design by collecting data from the four (4) mobile telecommunication companies in Kenya using a self-administered questionnaire. Means, standard deviation, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data collected. The study established that most of the mobile phone service providers in Kenya had implemented procurement risk management practices. It was also clear that there was a very significant relationship between procurement risk management practices and supply chain performance.

The purpose of this research paper was to establish the relationship between technology and service quality in the banking industry in Kenya. The research was carried through across-sectional survey design which questioned respondents on e-banking services. Farms strive to survive and succeed in competition by pursuing strategies that enable them to perform better than their competitors. Therefore, the study seeks to assess knowledge management as source of sustainable competitive advantage and its impact on the performance of Egerton University farms. Performance was analyzed in terms of productivity and profitability. The productivity was assessed as mean yields per acre for crops such as wheat, barley and maize. The Dairy sector assessment looked at average milk productivity per cow per day. Profitability was analyzed using Net Farm Income and Rate of Return on Assets (ROA). The farm business is a function of land, capital, labuor and management particularly that of knowledge. In addition, it is subject to variability of prices, costs, yields and seasons.
