The results show that the exchange rate regime had significantly positive relationship with monetary independence after controlling the effects of inflation, economic growth and trade openness;capital control weakened this relationship in emerging and other economies; the phase difference of financial development strengthened the impact of financial development on monetary independence in industrial countries whereas it weakened that impact in emerging and other economies; and in general, monetary independence in the rising cycle of U. S. federal rate was weaker than that in the declining cycle of U. S. federal rate.

Abstract: This article starts by exploring the meaning of public private partnerships (PPP), aiming at the multiple interpretations in the APP literature. This document identifies that some of the issues regarding APP´s failure are due to the lack of technical support and when faced with hardships, parties tend to violate the right to appeal the process. Therefore, it is necessary to conceive formal mechanisms for interpreting the inherent risk of transferring resources from the government to the private party. From of the point of view transaction cost economics (TCE), and the Resource Based View (RBV) of organizational capacity, this paper proposes a theoretical framework to understand the risk management for PPP. This framework allows government agencies and private parties to have a logic understanding for the process of APP project procurement and the allocation of risk. This work also establishes its limitations and the future direction of its research.

This work also finds that for longer loan terms, the borrower repayment pressure and the default rates rise with higher loan-to-income ratios and higher interest rates. Additionally, we find that higher credit rankings and higher expected returns lead to higher probabilities of defaulting. To reduce the probability of borrower default, this study recommends building lending groups or lending pools, selecting higher income credit candidates and increasing credit limits. To validate our results, we perform robustness tests that modify the learning coefficient and the training-to-validation data ratio in order to show that the empirical results of this paper are robust and effective.

The results show that the effect of Chinese currency liquidity on output, inflation and asset prices varies greatly over time. The time-varying characteristic of liquidity shock on macro variables depends on the underlying state of the economy( asset price boom-bust,economic cycle, inflation cycle and credit cycle). We estimate the extra effect of liquidity shock on macroeconomy in different economic states by using a single-equation approach. We hope this paper could provide a new reference for making Chinese monetary policy and effect prediction.

Many scholars and experts of the subject have not uncovered an effective method to cope with predicting the capital shortfall of financial institutions. However, in this paper, we appeal to a robust and appropriate systematic risk factor assessment method proposed by Brownlees and Engle (2011), and attempt to calculate the expected capital shortfall of 16 of Taiwan’s financial holding companies. Based on this calculation, we propose to define a standard systemic risk factor assessment for a roster of financial holding companies. Another important finding of this paper is that the capital leverage ratio for commercial banks and insurance companies that a financial holding company would invest is significantly greater than the applicable capital leverage ratio. This means that the Taiwanese regulatory authorities that control financial holding companies need a systemic risk factor assessment method that would determine the appropriate minimal capital ratio in order to strengthen the control of the capital leverage ratio.

Our analysis makes use of ECUAMOD, the tax-benefit microsimulation model for Ecuador, together with representative household microdata from ENIGHUR 2011–12. Our results show that domestic gas subsidy tends to be progressive, whereas gasoline and diesel subsidies tend to be regressive. Our simulations show that eliminating all fuel subsidies would increase poverty and inequality due to the importance of domestic gas subsidy for low-income households. Eliminating only gasoline and diesel subsidies would not impact poverty and inequality, while allowing to reduce government expenditure. We further show that using part of the budget saved from the elimination of fuel subsidies to increase social assistance payments in Ecuador, could be a mechanism to compensate low-income families for their loss following fuel subsidy elimination.

Abstract: This paper analyzes the resurgence of the relations between China and Latin America in the context of the "new world order" of the 21 st century. This works begins by describing China´s insertion in the new world order, the historic participation of China in Latin America, and the economic and financial role of China in Latin America. The trade relationships between China and the region, the nature and patterns of Chinese Direct Foreign Investment, and the tacit conditionality of Chinese loans form a trilogy that accentuates and perpetuates the case of cornering Latin American into specializing on primary products.
