    The paper presents a design scheme for estimating the main characteristics of semisubmersible floating drilling rigs at the initial stages of design. According to the analysis results of loading items of the a semisubmersible drilling rig hull, it is evident that all items, except for the mass of the metal hull (technological equipment and stores, main mechanisms, ship supply and fuel), mainly depend on the depth of drilling and can be adopted on the basis of the prototype with a sufficient degree of accuracy at the beginning of design. Relative to the semisubmersible drilling rig type, the volume of ballast received for moving to the working position depends on the height of the freeboard of the pontoons and on the volume of the columns to the waterline of the working position. The ballast chosen in this way should be placed only in the lower pontoons which also have compartments for pumps and fuel tanks. Taking into account buoyancy conditions in the marching and working (semi-submersible) position, as well as requirements specification for the design of semi-submersible floating drilling rigs, there have been found dependencies which allow obtaining and analyzing characteristics of the pontoons and columns, as well as the rig’s heaving parameters required at the starting stage of design. To determine the size and volume of the hull (pontoons, stabilizing columns and upper hull), there has been proposed an order for calculating the characteristics of semi-submersible floating drilling rigs. The estimation of the rig’s heaving motions when drilling occurs in the rough sea has been done. The technique obtained can be used in the educational process when studying the design of semisubmersible crafts, such as semisubmersible drilling rigs and floating cranes

    The authors of the article describe research of the surface steel layer for the conditions of continuous submergence into the seawater test solution and for the splash area of ships and ocean technical facilities. Results of microscopic examination indicated a substantial difference in the structure and composition of the surface layer depending on the experimental conditions. Further study of the obtained elemental composition and microscopy images will allow the development of the computer-aided data analysis procedure based on the computer vision system with the application of intellectual frameworks to predict shipbuilding steel potentials at various stages of exposure to seawater with the aim to enhance corrosion protection methods.

    Prospects for presence of gas production areas of the Taz Bay of the Gulf of Ob have been determined by the authors of the paper. Approaches to determining the optimal ice-resistant shape of the platform support base are considered. Scenarios of extreme ice impacts on structures operated in the Gulf of Ob have been determined. An assessment of global actions to occur during interaction of platforms with ice features was given, which directly affects the choice of the platform design and the way of securing it on the seabed. A calculation of global ice actions, determined by both domestic and foreign procedures, was performed. The obtained results of global ice actions, determined by use of several procedures prescribed by the main regulatory documents, were analyzed in various scenarios of the “platform/ice features” interaction. The prospects of further research were investigated.

    The requirements of the rules and regulations of the Classification Societies are based on the assumption that during the construction and operation of ships the hull corrosion protection measures are implemented according to the standards and other regulatory documents currently in force. For the purposes of designing the ship hull structures, the load components for different corrosion protection types have been obtained in the paper. There have been collected the data on the relationship between the corrosion protection weight load and the ship displacement, which enables to select the lowest corrosion protection type by weight.     С целью определения корректных значений защитного потенциала, указываемых в системах катодной защиты морских судов и сооружений наложенным током для предотвращения локальных коррозионно-механических разрушений разработана методика определения потенциала корпусных сталей в отсутствии поверхностной пленки при катодной поляризации. Полученные значения потенциала могут быть рекомендованы для использования как защитного в системах катодной защиты, обеспечивая потенциал незаряженной поверхности стали, в том числе и на поверхности без оксидной пленки.     The article provides an analysis of existing multicriteria assessment methods. The hierarchy analysis method developed by T. Saati and the expert assessment method is proposed to structure the complex task of comparing and assessing the applicability of various drilling rigs types to extend the drilling season in severe climatic conditions under the influence of ice loads. The priority of the criteria for the hierarchy analysis method is based on an expert survey. The application of the expert assessment method allows taking into account the existing experience in the design and operation of offshore drilling facilities. Weights were determined based on the results of an expert survey using a simple mathematical apparatus. The program was developed in MS Excel to obtain a numerical assessment of criteria preferences.     The article provides an analysis of existing neural network models. The features of constructing a neural network using several parameters that affect the output value are described. The advantages of using neural networks and computing systems based on them are revealed. The task was solved using the Python programming language. The computing model of the potential values of steel with an oxide film and the potential of steel without an oxide film has been developed for various salinity of sea water and different types of hull steels used for hulls of sea vessels and underwater structures of ocean engineering structures designed for the Black Sea basin of the Sevastopol region and operated in this region. The obtained results will improve the accuracy of predicting potentials for various hull steel grades.

    Nowadays, stress corrosion fracturing of hull structures of ships and floating facilities is a matter of concern. Considering the presence of the juvenile surface at the tips of local defects, some adjustment is required for parameters governing protection in the existing methods of protecting against stress corrosion damages. However experimental determination of the juvenile surface for all steels is impossible. This article deals with solving a problem of predicting the protective potential to prevent hull structures of ships and floating facilities against stress corrosion fracturing. The solving is performed by use of a computer assisted data analysis with intermediate prediction of reference parameters such as potential of steel with an oxide film on, and that of steel without any oxide film, for different steel grades and sea water salinities.
