This paper deals with contents that Sang-Seol Lee contributed to the natural science in the 19th century Korea. Prof. Sung-Rae Park, the science historian, called Sang-Seol Lee Father of the Modern Mathematics education of Korea. Sang-Seol Lee wrote a manuscript Botany with a brush in late 19th century. Botany was transcribed from Science Primers: Botany (written by J. D. Hooker), which is translated into Chinese by Joseph Edkins in 1886. The existence of Sang-Seol Lee's book Botany was not known to Korean scientists before. In this paper, we study the contents of Botany and its original text. Also we analyze people's level of understanding Western sciences, especially botany at that time. In addition, we study authors of 16 Primers jar Western Knowledge. We study the contribution of mathematician Sang-Seol Lee to science education in the 19th century Korea.

The first Korean mathematical science journal was published by Yu, Il- Sun in 1905 and the name of this journal is "Mathematical Science magazine". This monthly journal was published for 2 years. But in the existing literature, there is no information about it. We discovered its existence and studied its contents. From the historical materials, pioneering contributions of Yu, Il-Sun to mathematics were provided. In this article, the first issue of this journal was fully analyzed. We could see his affection and enthusiasm for the journal that he started. More mathematical search efforts on finding historical math materials should be continued. More efforts should be made on finding historical math literatures. Related researches will be done. Those works will be worth to be shared in ICME-12 and ICM 2014.

We would like to give an introduction about Korean Tertiary Mathematics and curriculum in the early 20th centuryan Ttails like, when tertiary mathematics was introduced in Korea, who adiated it, and how it appeared in curriculum for college education were presented. From the late 19th century, the royal circle of the dynasty, officers, socd. Felites, intellectu. sculum in tand many foreatn my mionaries, who entered Korea, began to establish educational ulstitutions begulnearlfrom the nt80s. Kearl GoJongtannounced thescript for general education icentur. Most of the new schoo scadiated western mathematics as tcompulsory course in their curriculumiese introduced tertiary mathematics in most of the curriculumurse end curriculum in, lfrom nt85 to 1960. Since then, tertiary mathematics was tautit at most of the new private and public schools of each level and in colleges. We have investigated the history of Korean tertiary mathematics with its curriculum from 1895 to 1960.

MAA Digital library Workshop, October 6-8, 2006 was held at the newly completed Carriage House Conference Center at MAA Headquarters. This workshop is designed to inform participants about the Mathematical Sciences Digital Library (MathDL), the new MAA Math Gateway project, and the National Science Digital Library (NSDL) and to enable participants to conduct short sessions publicizing these online resources at MAA Section Meetings. The workshop was conducted by Lang Moore, David Smith, and Eileen McIlvain. Major support is being provided by the National Science Foundation through the National Science Digital Library Program. We introduce what was in there and how we properly use and publicize them and add what we could do.

We are introducing a new learning environment for linear algebra at Sungkyunkwan University, and this is changing our teaching methods. Korea's e-Campus Vision 2007 is a program begun in 2003, to equip lecture rooms with projection equipment, View cam, tablet PC and internet D-base. Now our linear algebra classes at Sungkyunkwan University can be taught in a modem learning environment. Lectures can easily being recorded and students can review them right after class. At Sungkyunkwan University almost of all large and medium size lecture rooms have been remodeled by Mar. 2005 and are in use. We introduce this system in detail and how this learning environment changed our teaching method. Analysis of the positive effect will be added.

In 1876, America's first Jewish math professor J. J. Sylvester took a department head position at the first research university in USA at the age of 61. He launched the America's first research journal of mathematics in 1877. We study the role and meaning of J. J. Sylvester, F. Klein and E. H. Moore in late 19th century of American mathematics from Korean's perspective.

The affirmative feature which web based learning and problem based learning in the self directed learning having on-line and off-line study it amalgamates in connection Blended Learning method and specially in mathematics subject as a service course. We introduce a model of BL lecture of Mathematics and tried to find a new way for the quality improvement of university education.

The purpose of the study was to investigate the evolution of Korean modern mathematics in late 19th and early 20th century. This article reveals the efforts of incipient Korean mathematicians who had adopted modern mathematics from western countries and the difficulties and struggles they had to go through at that time. At the end of the article, we discussed our current status in international mathematical society.

Abstract It is well known that not all sign idempotent sign pattern matrices allow idempotence. In this paper, we found a necessary and sufficient condition for a sign idempotent sign pattern matrix to allow idempotence. In addition, we investigated the nonnegativity of sign idempotent sign pattern matrices that allow idempotence. Finally, we show that if A is a sign idempotent sign pattern matrix, then A allows idempotence if and only if | A | = [ | a i j | ] also allows idempotence.
