These include measurement of sensory and motor conduction velocities and latencies of peripheral nerves. These nerve conduction parameters may be affected by anthropometric factors like age, sex, height, weight and BMI. In this observational study the impact of these anthropometric parameters was measured on sensory nerve conduction velocity (SNCV) and sensory latency (SNSL) of sural nerve. Sural nerve conduction studies were conducted in EMG room of Neurology section of Medical Unit 1 at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital, Lahore on Electromyograph by Nihon Kohden MEB-5304K. After following strict exclusion criteria by careful history and physical examination 25 normal healthy subjects recruited from local population by random sampling technique. The age range was 40-70 years with mean age 47.2 +/- 9.23 years. Gender distribution was 60% females and 40% males. The mean SN...

Data on survival with relation to prognostic factors is scarce. The primary objective of the study was to evaluate the applicability of International Prognostic Index (IPI) to predict overall survival (OS) and disease free survival (DFS) in developing countries. Two hundred and nineteen patients of NHL consecutively presenting to the Department of Oncology, Jinnah Hospital Lahore between August 1998 to July 2000 were analyzed. All patients underwent initial staging according to Ann Arbor staging system. The patients were categorized by five independent risk factors: patient age, disease stage, serum lactate dehydrogenase (LDH) levels, performance status, and number of extranodal sites involved. Patients were divided into three risk categories Low (0 or one risk factors), Intermediate (2 risk factors) and High (3 or more risk factors). According to IPI low risk category comprised of 15%...

Data were collected for study from printed volumes of research journal for selected period of three years. Total numbers of 91 scholarly articles were analyzed from different aspects to find out year wise distribution of articles, authorship pattern, gender wise distribution, ranking of Authors, length of articles, cited documents per articles and country wise contribution of authors. The study revealed that major contribution of male authors, Pakistani authors were contributing more as compare to rest of world, books were cited 67.36% followed by journals as a cited documents. A reasonable number of articles are of length 1-5 pages, followed by 20-30pages. Majority of the articles are single authored, female contribution is minimal.
