Prof. Roy w swoich przemyśleniach przestrzega nas przed sprowadzeniem chrześcijaństwa do przestrzeni kulturowej. Obrona tożsamości chrześcijańskiej Europy prowadzi często do wyeliminowania z niego elementu religijnego.

część tekstów została przytoczona w całości, by lepiej można było zrozumieć kontekst historyczno-społeczny użycia słowa „patriotyzm”.

THE CHRISTIAN POLITICIAN
The purpose of man’s existence and activity is both his own well-being ... more THE CHRISTIAN POLITICIAN
The purpose of man’s existence and activity is both his own well-being and development and that of others, but at the same time also the development of society. One of those dimensions has become especially manifest in history in the form of two tendencies: individualism and collectivism. The former puts emphasis on the individual, while the latter on the community. Church thought concentrates on the human person as a unique value in itself, but one placed also within a social dimension. In contrast to collectivism, Church thought, starting with the Rerum novarum encyclical, emphasises the dignity and transcendental dimension of the human person, and points to man’s right to private property. What was underlined in opposition to individualism was the regulating role of the state and social justice understood in the context of common good.
Man is a subject, the centre of social life the structures of which should foster conditions that enable his growth, because he is not self-sufficient, and requires others to achieve his full potential. The Church does not aspire to creating its own social system, but acts as advocate for a principle-based social life, while leaving the technical aspects to social institutions and human ingenuity. The Church does not renounce the modern world, but engages in its problems, reading the ‘signs of the times’ and pointing to the ethical dimension of social and political life. This ethical sphere is also implicit in the definition of politics as established by Pope John Paul II. He understood this sphere of social activity as a prudent concern for the common good (Laborem Exercens encyclical, 20), and it is this aspect the Church wants to engage in, albeit on a meta-level: that is in advocating the respect due to human dignity and human rights. Political thought is one of the forms of man’s intellectual efforts concerning his own condition and that of the society he lives in.
A question then arises: how does this common good, understood as the goal of political activity, relate to the good of the individual. The concept of common good is central to Catholic social teaching and social ethics. It is from this concept that other principles of social life stem from. The relation of man as an individual with other people is structural and intrinsically connected with his nature: it is a relation of participation, solidarity and community with others, with the shared goal of common good. The human person is all about being with others – man is open towards others. The individual ‘I’ longs for a dialogue with ‘you’ – this in the end results in a ‘we’ which constitutes the basis of a community.
Since the time of Machiavelli there has been a tendency to separate politics from the category of common good, designating politics as an art of conquest, or exercising and keeping power. Thus effectiveness in politics became the main concern. In calling politics a prudent concern for the common good, John Paul II refers back both to Greek and Roman concepts and Christian ethics. In this sense politics becomes a matter of concern also for a Christian. Is he then allowed to fear or evade it? For the Christian the political sphere presents an opportunity to fulfil the Christian calling of evangelising the world, and it is the task of political parties to present a vision of common good and then present it to their voters. Having gained the sufficient support and attained power they can then strive to make such a vision a reality. It is therefore imperative to be aware of the moral aspect of political activity on all its stages.
The Church is concerned with the common good of society, with the dignity and rights of man, and this concern does not constitute a conflict with its evangelical mission. Christians engaged in the political sphere do not act as representatives of the Church, nor in the capacity of custodians of religious, spiritual and temporal interests of the ecclesiastical community, and neither as deputies of the Catholic community, but with the perspective of the good of the common state and its citizens, both Christian and non-Christian. Catholics have not only a right but also a duty to engage in shaping the political life of their community in the spirit of the moral teachings of the Gospel. They are called to serve as witnesses of the inter-connexion of morality and politics. What the Church proposes on its part is a cooperation with political parties with the shared goal of human development. What is important, is that all parties should act according to ethical principles to guarantee a constant pursuit of the good of the common state.
One should not forget however, that in a globalized world there are ways of thinking that are different from those proposed or endorsed by the Church. Interacting with such differing world views may potentially be a source of problems, and these must not be overlooked. What is needed then, are steadfast attempts at a dialogue with those of other persuasion than ourselves

The article presents the population groups that settled in Lower Silesia after the war, as well as the area's demographic and religious structure from 1945 to the present day. It also highlights the main ecclesial events that have shaped the image of the Wrocław Church. The presented data comes from both published and previously unpublished reports and analyses. In the final section, the conducted research on religiosity in this area is discussed.

In addition to being active as a scholar, he was a member of Church bodies both in Poland and worldwide. He was a member of associations that explored such issues as seminary formation, theology teaching, ministry, and especially teacher ministry, dialogue with non-believers, and social justice. He contributed to the work of Vatican’s Secretariat for Non-believers and the Primate Social Council, and was actively involved in the preparation and sessions of the Wrocław Archdiocese Synode. He contributed to all those bodies by sharing his expertise either directly or through written studies which addressed both the sociological examination of the socio-religious reality, and the principles of Catholic social teaching.

Publikacje bp. prof.
Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław has inherited Leopoldinum Academy, which has been in existence since 15 November 1702, run by Jesuits and transformed into the University of Wrocław in 1811. After the Second World War, the Department of Catholic Theology did not reappear at the University but started its independent existence, firstly at Priests’ Seminar as an Academic Theological Centre, and since 1974 as Pontifical Faculty of Theology, recognized by the Apostle’s Capital as the follower of the University of Wrocław. The Faculty conducts uniformed Master of Art studies and Doctorate studies. Moreover, it is in possession of the right to bestow habilitation. Th ere are 25 departments at the Faculty, which are grouped into 4 institutes, 33 independent University workers and 38 Assistant Professors lecture there. Th ere are almost 1900 students studying in the daily system, extramural system, in PHD studies and post-graduate studies.

Prof. Roy w swoich przemyśleniach przestrzega nas przed sprowadzeniem chrześcijaństwa do przestrzeni kulturowej. Obrona tożsamości chrześcijańskiej Europy prowadzi często do wyeliminowania z niego elementu religijnego.

zwłaszcza nazwisk podawanych w historiografii i publicystyce. Niniejszy artykuł zawiera źródłową edycję listu opatrzoną licznymi przypisami.
Stefan Wyszyński played an important role in the integration of Polish society after World War II. This paper addresses the idea of integration, as implemented by Wyszyński, and the methods he used in the process in relation to the Western and Northern Territories of the Republic. The article discusses the specific nature of the Church administration on Recovered Territories in a new polictical reality, and the situation of the Catholic Church on those territories in the context of Polish-German relations, and also identifies major social and religious initiatives by the Primate of Poland, whose purpose was for the newly established community to be accepted by the nation as a whole.
Pope Francis, in the encyclical "Fratelii tutti", notices the need for a better politics that serves the common good. In his teaching he strongly emphasize the necessity for assurance of respecting the dignity of every human being. In it, the common good, as the goal of politics, finds its foundation. No state can deny anyone the right to a worthy life and integral development. The encyclical "Fratelli tutti" shows the indifference in the attitude of the priest and the Levite, passing by the stranger who was beaten and abandoned in the parable of the Good Samaritan. For the pope Francis, the biblical parable is an opportunity to show indifference existing in the contemporary societies, especially towards the weakest. Francis is anxious so that indifference does not lead to exclusion, which is already appear in political, economic, social and religious projects. Francis calls for building new social bonds based on love.
Pope John XXIII, on the 70th anniversary of the publication of "Rerum novarum", published the social encyclical "Mater et Magistra". He expressed, in it, his opinion concerning the changes in the scientific, technical, economic and socio-political spheres. He did not engage in
polemics with ideologies and political concepts. In his opinion, the achievements of the human intellect, and not political ideas, can be the starting point for social changes. John XXIII also accentuated a need for socio-moral education. Also today, the Church, as Mother and Teacher,
accompanies all the problems of the world and of human being.
In Summa theologiae St. Thomas Aquinas, in the part devoted to feelings raises the question: is love a cause of everything? Feelings in the human life, when they are uncontrolled become destructive force, while controlled by reason and duly directed they are transformed into the powerful and irreplaceable driving force of the creative human spirit. Education of feelings, besides education of reason and will is one of the main tasks of ethics. For St. Thomas Aquinas each action, from whatever feeling comes, arises from love as the first cause. So other feelings are not unnecessary, since they are the closest causes.
Wychowanie uczuć, obok wychowania rozumu i woli, to jedno z głównych zadań etyki. Dla św. Tomasza każde działanie, z jakiegokolwiek by uczucia pochodziło, wypływa z miłości jako pierwszej przyczyny.
