Since the war in Ukraine and the increased acts of violence in the U.S. require immediate action, the “Kindness and Trauma-Informed Teaching” project is essential. Based on a one-semester interaction for the case study, research, and project work, it is a novel practice at both educational institutions. Graduate students engaged in asynchronous and synchronous activities utilizing Zoom, Google Classroom, and Google Documents. The project was carried out under the auspices of Education USA, the American Council in Ukraine, and SUNY COIL Foundation in the USA. The findings highlight the significance of such partnerships and persuade that this project promotes furth...

The authors describe and analyze the experience of the cross-cultural exchange in Facebook movie-based discussions as an innovative approach to English teacher preparation in Ukraine. The study examines the perceptions of American films regarding various social, educational, and cultural issues by American and Ukrainian participants. The authors address the following questions: 1. What are the intercultural differences in the perception of American movies manifested by the representatives of the American and Ukrainian cultures during movie club discussions? 2. What are the participants’ attitudes to online discussions in a Facebook group? The research engages 83 participants, including university professors, their family members, and prospective teachers majoring in teaching English as a foreign language. The research engages 83 participants, including university professors, their family members, and prospective teachers majoring in teaching English as a foreign language. The study applies Hofstede's cultural dimensions model and descriptive, comparative, and qualitative methods. Since the research is empirical and an exciting outcome of international academic collaboration in teacher preparation, its findings have proven the significance of cross-cultural communication for educational purposes. The emphasis on strengthening English language teacher preparation with intercultural awareness, values, and skills for service in the multicultural world has evident benefits for the quality of teacher training in the Ukrainian context. The research also signifies Facebook as a platform for future online educational collaboration.

Since Ukrainian education had traditionally been face-to-face before the crisis, and technology integration was slow, the lack of online infrastructure and distance learning methodologies in Ukrainian universities aggravated uncertainty and anxiety regarding learning quality. The authors show how the Vinnytsia State Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi Pedagogical University (VSPU) withstands the challenge of reflecting on the experience, which might be typical of higher education institutions. The research engages 321 future teachers of English and applies mixed methods. The significance lies in consolidated effort and capacity to modernize that yield positive outcomes, despite insufficient experience and funding. It also states that student opinions count.
