Conhecer os custos operacionais do pronto-socorro, possibilita o pl...

Tramontini CC, Graziano KU. Hypothermia control in elderly surgical patients in the intraoperative period: evaluation of two nursing interventions. Rev Latino-am Enfermagem 2007 julho-agosto; 15(4):626-31. Objectives: To evaluate the efficacy of two different nursing interventions regarding control of body heat loss, using blankets during the intraoperative period of elderly patients. Methods: This was an experimental, comparative, applied, longitudinal prospective study with a quantitative approach. Eighty-one elderly patients undergoing elective surgery with a surgical time frame of at least one hour were selected by systematic probability sampling into two Experimental and one Control Group. Informed consent was obtained from participants. Data was collected by biophysiological measurement, using a tympanic thermometer. Results: After the homogeneity of variables – gender, surgical duration, age, BMR, anesthesia, room humidity and temperature, drugs and liquid infusion- had been ...

Aiming to apply quality control instruments derived from Production Engineering in the processing of materiais in a Supply Center and Sterilization Unit, two indicators were used: Speed and Reliability. This is a quantitative, exploratory and descriptive study that evaivated two indexes in the processing of dressing packets and micronebulizers in 19 processing cycles. The Production Speed Index of dressing packets had a mean of 213.7 minutes(standard deviation 44.9 and Coefficient of Variation 21%) and the micro nebulizer,157.2 minutes (standard deviation 26.7and Coefficient of Variation 17 %). TheReliabiiity index of the dressing packets was below the necessary to meet the demand (Pearson 's correlation coefficient 2.16%) and the Reliability index for the micro nebulizer proved to be lower than required, even with Pearsons correlation coefficient at 79.95%. This study demonstrated the importance of using Production Engineering tools to improve the processes and results of a Sup...

OBJECTIVE To identify the composition of the smoke produced by electrocautery use during surgery. METHOD Integrative review with search for primary studies conducted in the databases of the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences, covering the studies published between 2004 and 2014. RESULTS The final sample consisted of 14 studies grouped into three categories, namely; polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, volatile compounds and volatile organic compounds. CONCLUSION There is scientific evidence that electrocautery smoke has volatile toxic, carcinogenic and mutagenic compounds, and its inhalation constitutes a potential chemical risk to the health of workers involved in surgeries.
