A new recursive design method is proposed. Based on backstepping design method, it can conclude that there exists a robust control that solves the almost disturbance attenuation problem for nonlinear system with time delay
Plasma defocusing and higher-order Kerr effects on multiple filamentation and pattern formation o... more Plasma defocusing and higher-order Kerr effects on multiple filamentation and pattern formation of ultrashort laser pulse propagation in air are investigated. Linear analyses and numerical results show that these two saturable nonlinear effects can destroy the coherent evolution of the laser field, and small-scale spatial turbulent structures rapidly appear. For the two-dimensional case, numerical simulations show that blow-up-like solutions, spatial chaos, and pseudorecurrence can appear at higher laser intensities if only plasma defocusing is included. These complex patterns result from the stochastic evolution of the higher- or shorter-wavelength modes of the laser light spectrum. From the viewpoint of nonlinear dynamics, filamentation can be attributed to the modulational instability of these spatial incoherent localized structures. Furthermore, filament patterns associated with multiphoton ionization of the air molecules with and without higher-order Kerr effects are compared.

Thus, there is an urgent need to identify novel therapeutic targets for this dreadful disease. Numerous studies have established that overexpression of astrocyte-elevated gene-1 (AEG-1) is frequently observed in multiple types of cancers including HCC, and its expression levels are correlated with the stage and grade of the disease. Further studies revealed that AEG-1 plays a key role in several crucial aspects of HCC progression, including growth, transformation, cell survival, invasion, metastasis and chemoresistance. Moreover, AEG-1 overexpression activates the Wnt/β-catenin, mitogen-actived protein kinase (MAPK), nuclear factor (NF)-κB, and PI3K/Akt signaling pathways, and promotes its downstream gene expression to facilitate malignant potential. Recently, transgenic mice with hepatocyte-specific expression of AEG-1 (Alb/AEG-1) and AEG-1-knockout mou...

A total of 480 blood and tissue specimens were collected in our hospital from January 2011 to October 2012. In the observation group, there were 120 blood specimens and 120 intestinal tract tissue specimens collected from patients with neoplastic intestinal polyps. In the control group I there were 80 blood specimens and 80 intestinal tract tissue specimens collected from patients with colorectal cancer. In the control group II there were 40 blood specimens and 40 intestinal tract tissue specimens collected from healthy individuals. The gene segments were amplified using PCR and DNA gel electrophoresis along with DNA sequence analysis were employed for the detection of the following single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs): K-RAS codons 12 and 13; hMLH1 (human mutS homolog 1) gene missense mutation at Va1384Asp; hMSH2 (human mut...

Accumulating evidence indicated that targeting the deregulated microRNAs could mitigate disease outcomes. Here, we showed that progressive hepatic schistosomiasis caused elevation of miR-21 and efficient and sustained inhibition of miR-21 by using highly hepatic tropic adeno-associated virus serotype 8 (rAAV8) protected mice against the lethal schistosome infection through the attenuation of hepatic fibrosis. We demonstrated an additive role of IL-13 and TGF-β1 in up-regulating the miR-21 expression in the hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) by activation of the SMAD proteins. Further, the down-regulation of miR-21 in the HSCs reversed hepatic fibrosis by enhancing SMAD7 expression, thus repressing TGF-β1/Smad and IL-13/Smad pathways. Conclusion: Our study revealed the mechanism of IL-13-mediated schistosomiasis hepatic fibrosis by up-regulation of miR-21 and highlights the potential of r...

Based upon reversibility of the Jacobian matrix and matrix theory, we carry out a series of elementary column transformations to Jacobian matrix. And then, according to Lyapunov function theory, sufficient conditions for generalized synchronization between drive system and response system with different dimensions are obtained. Numerical simulations are also given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme.

The local stability of hyperbolic equilibrium and non-hyperbolic equilibrium are investigated by using center manifold theorem. Pitchfork bifurcation, degenerate pitchfork bifurcation and Hopf bifurcation are analyzed when the parameters are varied in the space of parameter. For a suitable choice of the parameters, the existence of singularly degenerate heteroclinic cycles and Hopf bifurcation without parameters are also investigated. Some numerical simulations are given to support the analytic results.

Based on Lyapunov stability theory, we design an intermittent controller to guarantee the stability of the chaotic system. Simulation results are presented to verify the effectiveness of the method.

The receptor is also involved in HIV infection and tumor growth and metastasis. Antagonists of CXCR4 have been widely evaluated for drugs against HIV and tumors. In an effort to identify novel CXCR4 antagonists, we screened a small library of compounds derived from marine organisms and found bryostatin-5, which potently inhibits chemotaxis induced by SDF-1 in Jurkat cells. Bryostatin-5 is a member of the macrolactones, and its analogue bryostatin-1 is currently being evaluated in clinical trials for its chemotherapeutic potential. The involvement of bryostatins in the SDF-1/CXCR4 signaling process has never been reported. In this study, we found that bryostatin-5 potently inhibits SDF-1-induced chemotaxis but does...

Different doses (1.25 μl,2 μl,2.5 μl) of Lipofec-tamin2000, Gbfectene-Elite and HilyMax were used to transfect 1 μg plasmid pGPU6/GFP/Neo. The transfection efficiency was observed by the fluorescence and the cell viabilities were measured. The transfection efficiency of HilyMax was significant higher than that of Lipofectamin2000 and Gbfectene-Elite (86.85%±2.32% compared with 48.33%±3.24% and compared with 37.35%±5.41%; F=18.882, P<0.05). The transfection efficiency of 2.5 μl HilyMax was highest(90.53%±1.15%). The cell viability of Lipofectamin2000 was significantly lower than that of HilyMax and Gbfectene-Elite(65.76%±5.78% compared with 89.54%±0.86% and compared with 82.45%±3.56%;F=90.676, P<0.05). HilyMax has the highest transfection efficiency and the lowest cell toxicity in transfection of plasmid pGPU6/GFP/Neo into chicken embryo fibroblast, with the optimal ratio...
