The Bachelor Thesis titled "Kulturindustrie in nuce? Theodor W. Adornos Musiktheorie als Gesellschaftskritik" by Santiago Lösslein Pulido explores the music theory as presented by Theodor W. Adorno and its relevance to the concept of culture industry as well as contemporary society. The thesis aims to critically analyse Adorno's music theory and its connection to the culture industry, and to examine how this theory can be applied to understand the current state of society. Through a thorough literature review, the author examines Adorno's key arguments on the culture industry, including its role in shaping mass culture and its impact on individual subjectivity and draws a line to the music-theoretical parts of its arguments.  Ultimately, the author argues that Adorno's music theory provides a valuable framework for understanding the theory of culture industry and, thus, contemporary society and offers insights into how we can critically engage with mass culture. This thesis contributes to ongoing debates about the role of art and culture in society and highlights the continued relevance of Adorno's ideas in contemporary discourse.
