scambi idrici limitati, è un ecosistema a rischio
e può determinare l’esposizione umana ai PFAS
attraverso l’ingestione di pesce di mare. Infatti,
un elemento preoccupante è che alcuni pesci
del Mar Mediterraneo mostrano una contaminazione estremamente elevata di PFOA e PFOS.
È possibile riscontrare una relazione tra habitat
ittici e livelli di PFOA e PFOS, in quanto i pesci bentonici hanno mostrato livelli di PFOA e
PFOS, in media, più alti dei pesci pelagici. Ciò
potrebbe essere spiegato dal fatto che i pesci
bentonici possono assorbire contaminanti sia
dall’acqua di mare che dai sedimenti sabbiosi e
fangosi. Per quanto riguarda i molluschi bivalvi, cozze e vongole presentano concentrazioni di
PFOS simili, mentre i livelli di PFOA risultano
essere più alti nelle vongole.
