This discussion between Masahiro Morioka, author of Manga Introduction to Philosophy, and the translator of its French edition, Pierre Bonneels, shows how philosopher and artist Morioka became acquainted, through images, with fundamental abstract notions. After a short historical analysis of the aesthetic advantages of Manga, consideration is given to this unique way of provoking thought. On this basis, theoretical aspects of “time” and the “I” proposed by Ōmori Shōzō are compared with Morioka’s Manga presentation. Although the questions raised are universal, the authors note that the use of Japanese metaphors enables these two thinkers to draw on a concrete understanding of notions like temporality and identity.

To do this, I will follow the works of the Franciscan theologian and philosopher, Pierre de Jean Olivi (1248-1298). I will explain the general context, namely the debates surrounding the Eucharist, the difference between transubstantiation and consubstantiation, and the Latin term " species." I will then focus on the problem of intention and its medieval sources in addition to the defence of its immediacy according to de Jean Olivi. In the end, this paper demonstrates an attempt at understanding the structure of human ideas by observing the major problem of intentionality in the mediaeval age.

If the production of a manifesto by an association of philosopher gathered around the University of Vienna known as the Vienna Circle strongly influenced the history of philosophy, we do not really know how this type of philosophy did found auditor in Japan. One can find such an auditorium within the examination of the number's of “Introduction of logic” published in japanese who materialise the genius idea of Gotolb Frege. Such studies can also be approch by a close look to the first period 1953 – 19(62-73) of the original philosophy of Ōmori Shōzō that will give us concrete argument on the hypothesis of such a movement in Japan. The aim of our prensentations is to present these outline's in order to promulgate the orignial value of Analytic Philosophy that can be found by the prisme of Japan.

Title: Philosophy and Manga: Why the Book ‘An Introduction to Philosophy in the Form of Manga’ Was Written and Is Under Translation
Masahiro MORIOKA, “Why Was the Book ‘An Introduction to Philosophy in the Form of Manga’ Written?”
Abstract:
In 2013, I published a book entitled A Manga Introduction to Philosophy in Japanese from Kodansha, and it was warmly welcomed by Japanese readers. There are a number of Manga books that deal with philosophical subjects and/or the history of philosophy, but this book is completely different. In this Manga, the author, a philosopher, talks about his own ideas on hard problems in contemporary philosophy such as time, existence, solipsism, and meaning of life, and in addition, all the original drawings were prepared by the author. (The final drawings were made by the professional cartoonist Nyankofu Terada).
In my presentation, I will talk about why I wrote a philosophy book in the form of Manga, and how it was possible to express philosophical ideas in Manga drawings. And I would like to discuss the future possibility to combine Manga and philosophy both in the field of Manga books and the field of academic discipline of philosophy.
Pierre BONNEELS, “Why as a translator specialize into Japanese philosophy did I choose to work on the French version an Introduction to philosophy in Japanese?”
Abstract:
The purpose of this presentation is two-fold: First, it will focus on the practical question to know how someone can find a book to translate by contacting and looking for interesting matter to translate; and second, it will further investigate with concrete example what a translator face within is work. Many philosophers would argue that a translation have to look for an ideal that is never totally grasp. In this process the principle of choice as to be used very carefully together with as many documentation one can get. It will develop this idea with concrete example found into the translation of A Manga Introduction to Philosophy. One of the main problem will be the deal of the translation of two but yet different concept “now” and “present”. Thus this presentation will present the background of a project which the aim is to build a greater community of thinker around nowadays philosophy that is to be found in Japan.
