English)-Spirituality and Palliative Care. Coming Challenges. In the past, the spiritual feelings and needs of people in the final stage of their lives have been the responsibility of the priest, pastor or similar type of religious minister. However, as secularisation progresses, a common language and possible understanding disappear. Nevertheless, the spiritual questions and needs remain, whatever their confessional identity. At the present time, the generation of people who did not normally have any religious education and socialization in the Czech Republic have come to the age of typical clients at hospices. It means that there is a great challenge for the staff at hospices, first of all for the pastoral workers, priests etc. This article presents a proposal for the stages of spirituality and describes one of the Czech hospices where we can see a strong emphasis on spirituality. The experiences at this hospice may be beneficial for other countries where the process of secularization began a little later.

Prace reflektuje, jak se Cirkev adventistů sedmeho dne vyrovnava s výzvami postmoderny, ac sama ma sve kořeny hluboce v obdobi moderny. Prvni cast je věnovana vzniku Cirkve adventistů sedmeho dne v kontextu paradigmatu moderny a vývoji jeji dogmatiky. Zabýva se zejmena filosofii common sense Thomase Reida a popisuje adventisticke dogmaticke výpovědi, ktere jsou pro tuto cirkev typicke a na ktere měla filosofie common sense vliv. Druha cast rozebira, jak se tato cirkev vyrovnava s výzvami postmoderni doby. Popisuje soucasne rozděleni adventisticke teologie na zakladě hermeneutických východisek, kterými se jednotlive proudy od sebe lisi a ktere je zavisle na způsobu vnimani Boha ve vztahu k casu. Ukazuje i prakticke dopady, ke kterým jednotlive přistupy v cirkevni praxi vedou. Cilem prace je co nejobjektivněji popsat stavajici situaci a ukazat na možna rizika a řeseni, ktera před cirkvi a jejimi cleny leži. The paper analyzes episodes of the Christian Magazine programme broadcast in 2012–2015 by the public service Czech Television. The content analysis aims to find out how and to what extent this news and reporting programme reflects the “particularly urgent needs characterizing the present age” mentioned in the second part of the Pastoral Constitution on the Church in the Modern World Gaudium et spes. “Particularly urgent needs characterizing the present age” are the main topic of only 23% of the reports broadcast during the investigated period, most of them dealing with cultural issues. Despite the restrictions of content analysis as compared to qualitative methods of research the results may serve as an incentive for reflection not only on the form of presenting “particularly urgent needs characterizing the present age” on the part of the Church, but also for reflection on the part of Czech Television.

Článek analyzuje pořad Křesťanský magazín vysílaný veřejnoprávní Českou televizí za období mezi lety 2012 2015. Cílem obsahové analýzy je zjistit, nakolik tento zpravodajsko-publicistický pořad reflektuje tzv. „některé naléhavější problémy naší doby“ uvedené v druhé části Pastorální konstituce o církvi v dnešním světě Gaudium et spes. „Některé naléhavější problémy naší doby“ jsou hlavním tématem pouhých 23 % reportáží za zkoumané období, přičemž většina z nich se zabývá tematikou kultury. Navzdory omezením, která s sebou nese obsahová analýza oproti kvalitativním metodám výzkumu, jsou zjištěné skutečnosti podnětem k zamyšlení jak nad formou prezentace „některých naléhavějších problémů naší doby“ ze strany církve, tak i pro reflexi ze strany České televize.

Cílem tohoto článku je ukázat a kriticky reflektovat snahu pomocí postmoderní terminologie a postupů obhájit, zdůvodnit a konsolidovat modernistickou křesťanskou tradici, kterou můžeme nalézt u některých teologů a filosofů z řad Církve adventistů sedmého dne.

The aim of this article is to show and critically reflect upon efforts using postmodern terminology and procedures to defend, justify and consolidate modernist Christian tradition, as we can find among some theologians and philosophers in the Seventh -day Adventist church. A typical representative of this effort is Adventist theologian and philosopher Fernando Canale.

Článek se zabývá motivací, která přivedla Církev adventistů sedmého dne k angažovanosti v oblasti lidských práv a sociální práce, a reflektuje některé praktické důsledky této motivace. Dokládá, že adventisté v 19. století převzali od milleritského hnutí tzv. historizující výklad biblických proroctví, kvůli kterému vidí dějiny jako boj mezi pravým a falešným náboženstvím. Pravé náboženství charakterizuje zachovávání soboty jako dne bohoslužeb, falešné pak zachovávání neděle. K prosazování zachovávání neděle má dojít v budoucnu silou, k čemuž se spojí katolicismus a Spojené státy americké. Obrana lidských práv, zejména práva na náboženskou svobodu, má tomuto úsilí čelit. Z této perspektivy adventisté také vnímají svou sociální angažovanost. I když praktické adventistické působení v oblasti lidských práv a sociální práce vesměs kopíruje postoje konzervativních amerických protestantů, text na příkladech ukazuje problematičnost některých specifických postojů, které v minulosti vedly k eticky spornému jednání.

The paper deals with the motivation that led the Seventh-day Adventist Church to engage in human rights and social work and reflects some of the practical implications of this motivation. It shows that the Adventists of the 19th century took over from the Millerite movement the so called historicist interpretation of biblical prophecies. As a result, the Adventists see history as a battle between true and false religion. True religion is characterized by observing the Sabbath as day of worship, false religion by observing Sunday. Observing Sunday will in the future be enforced by force, and Catholicism and the USA will cooperate to achieve this goal. Defending human rights, in particular the right to religious freedom, is intended to confront this effort. Adventists have also perceived their social commitment from this perspective. Although Adventist practical work in the field of human rights and social work generally follows the attitudes of conservative American Protestants, the text provides examples of some specific problematic attitudes, which have in the past led to ethically controversial acts.

The article "Revelation and the hierarchical theory of time" first defines the hierarchical theory of time as a hierarchical system of qualitatively different nested temporalities. It shows their inspiration in the theory of Umwelts of Jakob von Uexküll, and justifies the theological development of this theory by broadening it with so-called “trinitarian temporality”. It further presents a summary of Skalicky’s phenomenological typology of revelation, which categorizes according to the time when the revelation occurred. Reflections on this phenomenological typology from the perspective of the hierarchical theory of time then confirm Skalicky’s conclusion about the uniqueness of God’s revelation in Jesus Christ.

The goal of this article is to show if and how much christian theological bases affect the crisis communication of christian churches. Therefore it does not so much address the practice of crisis communication, but it theologically defines ethical framework, in which the crisis communication of christian churches should move. This ethical framework is derived from the Church‘s mission, which is to carry the gospel to the world. In chosen examples, it brings attention to many problems, that churches conflict with in the area of crisis communication. It mainly focuses on questions about perserving dignity of people, christian responsibility, and aspiration for the good of community. It comes to the conclusion, that in the area of crisis communication, it`s neccessary for churches to be not only completely proffessional, but also to keep evaluating, if the strategies applied to crisis communication supports and enhances Church`s mission.

The article deals with the question of how the contemporary postmodernist world view relates to the "mainstream" of Adventist theology - i.e. a movement which directly follows the modernist world view of the founders of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church. It critically analyses the deconstruction of evangelical theology in the works of the Adventist philosopher Femando Canale. This deconstruction aims at redefining the macro-hermeneutíc approach of Adventist theology on the basis of God's temporality. Finally, the article demonstrates the impact of this understanding on Adventist orthopraxy.

This work (in the Czech language) reflects on how the Seventh-day Adventist Church meets the challenges of postmodernism, despite itself having its roots deep in the modern era. The first part deals with the origin of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the development of its dogma. It primarily focuses on the Thomas Reid’s philosophy of common sense and describes the Adventist statements of dogma that are typical of this church and were influenced by
the philosophy of common sense. The second part analyses how this church deals with the challenges of the postmodern era. It describes the current categorisation of Adventist theology on the basis of the differing macro-hermeneutic of the individual streams that depend on how they view the relationship between God and time. It also indicates the practical
impacts that these various approaches to church praxis lead to. The aim of this work is to be as objective as possible in describing the current situation and show the potential risks and solutions that the church and its members face. In the author’s opinion, an adequate response to the problems
of Adventism in the postmodern era can be found in shifting the emphasis to a general Christian perspective and in redefining specifically Adventist teachings.

Práce reflektuje, jak se Církev adventistů sedmého dne vyrovnává s výzvami postmoderny, ač sama má své kořeny hluboce v období moderny. První část je věnována vzniku Církve adventistů sedmého dne v kontextu paradigmatu moderny a vývoji její dogmatiky. Zabývá se zejména filozofií common sense Thomase Reida a popisuje adventistické dogmatické výpovědi, které jsou pro tuto církev typické a na které měla filozofie common sense vliv. Druhá část rozebírá, jak se tato církev vyrovnává s výzvami postmoderní doby. Popisuje současné rozdělení adventistické teologie na základě hermeneutických východisek, kterými se jednotlivé proudy od sebe liší a které je závislé na způsobu vnímání Boha ve vztahu k času. Ukazuje i praktické dopady, ke kterým jednotlivé přístupy v církevní praxi vedou. Cílem práce je co nejobjektivněji popsat stávající situaci a ukázat na možná rizika a řešení, která před církví a jejími členy leží. Autor vidí adekvátní odpověď na problémy adventismu v postmoderní době v přenesení důrazu na obecně křesťanská východiska a v redefinování specificky adventistických nauk.
