Currently, I am working as a Senior Sector Specialist-Disaster Management and Climate Change Programme(DMCC) at BRAC. My core research interest is the application of geospatial technology in climate induced hazard and disaster risk assessment and builds resilience to reduce the risk. I have completed B.Sc. honors and M.Sc. from Department of Geography and Environment at Jahangirnagar University.I have about four years experience of Community based research, database management and GIS-RS mapping of natural hazards and disasters.I have four research articles and one book published in different journals and online.Among those two are the community-based approach for assessing and reducing hazards and disasters risk and vulnerability. I want to see myself as the key researcher in the field of application of Geospatial technology in Environmental phenomena like Hazard and Disaster risk reduction; specially Eco-DRR and EbA based measure and resilience to the climate change adverse situation.
SKILL: I am skilled with MS package (Word, Excel, Access, Power point, Publisher), statistical software (SPSS), VB component spreadsheet and GIS-RS mapping (ArcView, ArcGIS 10.1, Web mapping, ERDAS Imagine and Google Earth). Additionally, I am familiar with Graphics software (All CS version of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator) and swift learner of computer and IT related program. Recently I have successfully completed 8 online MOOC course, offered by various famous and well-known organizations and Universities on Natural hazards, Ecosystem, Climate change, GIS, ArcGIS, QGIS etc.

Community based environmental risk assessment approach is applied for risk mapping of the union. Opinion of the community people are integrated here with the comprehensive plan. This book highlights the individual hazard risk of an area, which mainly noted from the various key person and primary stakeholders of the area. Data sources are very reliable and data collection process was entirely field base. Scientific methodology applied for the analysis and research designing in this book. Vulnerability of different community are calculated precisely by scientific method. GPS is used for the geographical location and measure for the Hazard extent. An assessment of geo-morphology and hydro-biological factors of major wetlands of Bangladesh

The present study investigates the geo-morphological features, hydro-biological profiles and reso... more The present study investigates the geo-morphological features, hydro-biological profiles and resource characteristics of some selected wetlands in Brahmanbaria district, Bangladesh. Two categories of wetland have been classified on the basis of area such as the small category (40-100 ha), which belongs to 11 wetlands and the large category (100-200 ha) to nine wetlands. The mean depth of all the surveyed wetland does not exceed 3.29 ± 0.83 m. The mean value of organic matter was measured as 7.5 ± 6.34%. The maximum organic matter was recorded at Gagotia beel (24.60%) and the minimum organic matter was recorded at Kajolia beel (2.06%). The mean value of organic carbon was measured as 3.93 ± 3.33%. The highest amount of organic carbon was found at Gagotia beel (12.95%) while the lowest amount of organic carbon was observed at kajolia beel (1.08%). Dhaka is one of the most populated cities in the world and the largest city in Bangladesh. It is ... more Dhaka is one of the most populated cities in the world and the largest city in Bangladesh. It is the capital of Bangladesh, where (DCC) is the self-governing corporation and organization having responsibility of managing many functions of Dhaka City. The City corporation area is divided into several wards. Each ward has an elected ward commissioner. From 1990 it functioned as Dhaka City Corporation, but in 2011 the Corporation was divided into two different city corporations named Dhaka North and Dhaka South City Corporation. The administrative demarcation and renumbering of wards into new wards under two city corporations has given rise to a complexity about ward numbers.
Dhaka municipality was established in 1863, it was renamed as Dhaka City Corporation in 1990. Dhaka City Corporation has grown to a large metropolis with a population now nearing over one crore or more (approximately 12 million). Till November 2011 the DCC had 10 zones and 90 wards as small administrative units. The most discussed issue of row is the split of Dhaka City Corporation by the Local Government as Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) and Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC).

Spatial Distribution of Solar Energy in Determining the Solar Power System : A Geographical Study on Bangladesh

Bu... more The modern life all around the world including Bangladesh requires the service of electricity. But there is a great difference between the demand and supply of electricity in the country. The scarcity of electricity is hindering the development of the country. Although, the production of electricity using natural gas, coal and oil is costly and tough to reach the demand, but the use of solar system can be valuable to produce environmental friendly low cost electricity for all. The broad aim of this research work is to study the feasibility of the use of solar panels in Bangladesh. Both primary and secondary data sources have been used to conduct the study. Primary data includes the collection of information and functionality of the available solar panels in Bangladesh. Secondary sources includes the cloud coverage and sunshine data from the meteorological department of Bangladesh from 2000-2009. GIS technology has been used to show the spatial distribution of the cloud coverage and sunshine in different parts of the country. The research reveals that on an average the country receives about 3-4 hours of cloud cover in a day which is vertically distributed from west to east of the country. On the other hand, the country receives on an average of 5-7 hours of sun shine per day. The research suggests that Solar Panels should be selected on the basis of their capability and the distributional pattern of sunshine in the country.

The Study area Subidkhali union is one of the hazard prone areas of Bangladesh. As the nature of hazards is changing and frequency is increased, this issue required a proper plan and several strategies. Comprising the idea of community people with few modern strategies and technology, community based risk assessment have been done. In this risk assessment, CRA (Community Risk Assessment) methods are conduct to collect data of hazard, risk, and vulnerability. The data collected from the local stakeholder manipulated with various technological methods such as remote sensing, GPS and GIS have been used to create a risk map. Besides, different maps from government and private sectors are helpful in this respect. The goal for this risk mapping is to deliver quality data that increases public awareness about natural hazard risk, which leads to proper action that reduces risk to life and property
