I am professor (emeritus) of political science at the University of Jyväskylä, Finland. My profile is that of a historically oriented political theorist and textual analyst. My studies concern four interrelated fields, the history of the concept ‘politics’, principles and practices of conceptual history, political thought and methodology of Max Weber and studies on parliamentary concepts, procedures and rhetoric. I was involved in Niilo Kauppi’s Finnish Distinguished Professorship project ‘Transformation of Concepts and Institutions of the European Polity", editor of the journal Redescriptions, co-chair of the Standing Group "Political Concepts" of European Consortium for Political Research and co-editor of the book series "Politics, Debates, Concepts" (Nomos Verlag).
