Minuta tabula[1] est parva pictura qua manuscriptum illuminatum antiquum vel mediaevale ornabatur, simplicibus primorum codicum imaginibus pigmento minio adumbratis. Parva talium picturarum mediaevalium magnitudo usitata confusionem etymologicam movit cum exiguitate parvis picturis adhibita, praecipue parvulis sigillis,[2] quae autem ex eisdem traditionibus orta technicas rationes saltem ex inculabulis utebatur.

Praeter traditiones Occidentalem, Byzantinam, et Armenicam[3] invenitur alius traditionum Asianarum grex, picturarum quae etiam eximiae videntur, atque ex ornatu librorum manu scriptorum parvae schedarum singularum picturae etiam factae sunt, ut in albis conderentur, quae etiam minutae tabulae appellantur, contra res Occidentales quae hydrochromate aliisque mediis eaedem valent, inter quae sunt minutae tabulae Persicae et earum progenies Mogolica, Ottomanica, Indica.
