Elaboration and charaterization of a new dialysis membrane by sorption of polyelectrolytes nanolayers. This work aims at improving dialysis membrane selectivity and adaptability to the media to be treated by surface modifications using a polyelectrolyte. The poly(acrylonitrile-co-methallyl sulfonate) membrane, denoted AN69, has been modified by sorption of a cationic polyelectrolyte, the poly(allyldimethylammonium chloride), denoted PDADMA, on the membrane from its

ABSTRACT Complex reaction mechanism of HCNO + OH were investigated at the CCSD(T)/6-311++G(3df,2p)//B3LYP/6-311++G(3df, 2p) level. The results show that this reaction has four main entrance channels. From initial adducts sixteen different pathways lead to products. The most favorable channel involves the barrierless entrance isomer (HC(OH)CNO) which is formed by OH adding to C atom. Products of (CO + NHOH) and (CHO + HNO) are the most favorable, (H2O + NO), (H-2 + OCNO), (H-2 + CO + NO), (CO + NH2O) are minor pathways. Heats of reaction are predicted at the CCSD(T)/CBS level. Our results are in good agreement with available experiment.

A fluorescent biosensor assay has been developed for near real-time detection of 2,4-dinitrophenol (DNP). The assay was based on fluorescent detection principles that allow for the analysis of antibody/antigen interactions in solution using the KinExA™ immunoassay instrument. Our KinExA™ consisted of a capillary flow observation cell containing a microporous screen that maintains a compact capture antigen-coated bead bed. The bead

When learning from large datasets, decision tree induction programs often produce very large trees. How to visualize efficiently trees in the learning process, particularly large trees, is still questionable and currently requires efficient tools. This paper presents a visualization method and tool for interactive learning of large decision trees, that includes a new visualization technique called T2.5D (stands for Tress

This paper presents a position-sensorless field-oriented control of a novel axial flux permanent magnet machine for flywheel energy storage system. The approach is based on the estimation of the motor induced voltage with the help of measured stator currents and reference voltages. Based on sliding mode observers, rotor position can be accurately estimated. This novel flywheel energy storage system is

This paper introduces the use of a three-phase matrix converter as an alternative to the DC-link back-to-back converter, for doubly-fed induction generator used in wind turbine system. A new dynamic model of matrix converter is proposed together with d-q dynamic representation of doubly fed induction generator. Consequently, the complicated three-phase coupling system is transformed into two independent direct and quadrature

Due to increasing wind power penetration into utility grids, system operators have instituted stringent standards for ride-through compliance of grid-connected wind turbines. Series voltage compensation can be an effective solution to meet the new standards, especially if a low-cost system can be developed. This paper first presents the characteristics of ride-through behavior of doubly fed induction generator (DFIG) using phasor

This paper presents the design and analysis of a novel axial flux permanent-magnet (AFPM) machine for a flywheel energy storage system (FESS). Its design and control facilitate significant reduction in axial bearing stress and losses. Due to the unconventional flux distribution in this machine, a 3-D finite element method was employed for its design and analysis, in- cluding its electromagnetic

This paper proposes a new type of three-phase AC-AC Z-Source converters which are derived from matrix converter (MC) theories. The proposed converters are capable of three-phase AC-AC power conversion and, except for exhibiting the input characteristics of MC: controllable (unity, leading and lagging) input power factor, it does overcome the two main drawbacks of MC: limited voltage transfer ratio and
