@Psemdel: Please do not assign Latin script labels to languages not written in the Latin script (such as Bengali). Mahir256 (talk) 14:44, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Ok, I correct. Psemdel (talk) 14:47, 20 December 2020 (UTC)Reply

Disqualified

edit

According to the bot the 16th century printer Michael von Hoogstraeten (Q55124690) won the UCI Europe Tour 2019. The error was only noticed because the item was a duplicate. --Kolja21 (talk) 10:06, 9 May 2022 (UTC)Reply

subclass-of

edit

Hey Psemdel, your bot went rogue as it is adding plenty of subclass of (P279) relations to sports-related non-class items. Can you please stop this immediately and roll it back? Thanks! —MisterSynergy (talk) 22:32, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

Since this seems to be an unattended job, I have blocked the bot from making further edits. Once an operator shows up, we can of course lift the block again. —MisterSynergy (talk) 23:01, 30 August 2022 (UTC)Reply

UCI Europe Tour

edit

Edoardo Costanzi (Q112960907) is not a contemporary cyclist. I undid some edits: Special:Diff/1764408146. Afnecors (talk) 12:22, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply

@Afnecors:, thx. Psemdel (talk) 14:24, 4 November 2022 (UTC)Reply
Yes there are a few mistakes such as Lauri Seppänen (Q16650327) who is also not a cyclists, please double check the occupation to make sure you got the right person. Germartin1 (talk) 05:12, 21 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Occupation is not perfect unfortunately. There are not only cyclists that ride bike races, they are also triathletes, speed skateers, cross-country specialists, duathletes,... I try also to avoid wrong assignation, but there is no perfect algorithm. Psemdel (talk) 07:53, 22 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
Psemdel (talk) 14:43, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
- https://dropmefiles.com/WzJ7B I manually copied the entire world ranking. In the continental rankings, the riders will have the same points, but occupy different places. I marked several racers in the table for clarity.
- For example, the first racer of the American continent takes 16th place in the World Ranking - KUSS Sepp. Accordingly, he will take 1st place in the American ranking. The next "American" is 25th - POWLESS Neilson, who will be 2nd in the American ranking. Can you sort the racers by continent? "***" = RUS or BLR.
- Final Ranking Women's World Cup 2005, 2006, 2008

I am not the UCI, I don't have the function to create ranking out of nothing. That's a shame, they swin in money in Lausanne and we have to create their rankings! Alfred North was saying the same the whole time, he was creating some custom ranking for the women in 90s because the UCI was not producing one. Here already with the import of the UCI ranking with mistakes(!!!), I feel bad. I don't want to make extrapolation and even more mistake. It impacts several thousands of items, sorting out afterward will be difficult. Sorry, but the UCI needs to do its work (or firstcycling/PCS mitigate), but I am not here to make "travail inédit". Zarah Leander

edit

I would like to kindly inquire about the rationale behind adding information about cycling to the item pertaining to a Swedish singer and actress (https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q46479&oldid=1729175584) who had no association with this sport. Additionally, it is important to note that this artist passed away 40 years ago, thus making it impossible for her to have participated in any cycling events that occurred after her demise.

I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide an explanation for including these seemingly irrelevant details in this particular item.

Thank you in advance for your response.

Kind regards, ThomasCurlyKale (talk) 16:57, 31 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Exactly, it is difficult to exclude completely (but good point concerning: checking that the person is alive :) ). Thx for the message, we correct it obviously. Psemdel (talk) 15:57, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
There may be a situation that at the time the rating is filled out, the racer may be deceased. It is better to check for parameters P106 - Q2309784, Q15117395, Q52217314 or P641 - Q2215841, Q221635 (this is a cyclist and cycling). — GAN (talk) 18:17, 1 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
I thought about it also, but if you look at a sample, you will see it is not that easy. There are "cyclist" who are sorted as triathlete, ski, rowing (Q61780172), "sport man", "BMX rider",... It makes a lots of case to cover. The amount of false positive is also not so huge in fact. P641 is wrong in my view, a person is not a sport. I will implement a check with P106, but it will lead to many riders missed I am quite sure. Psemdel (talk) 14:40, 18 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
So I introduced the change to be nice (https://github.com/psemdel/CyclingInitBot/commit/724f1129ff01ddf8457d7f82ba612f86ee7af349). It however confirmed one more time, that it was not a big issue. I had some difficulty to find an example for the test, if 2 items were found for the searched name, my function already tried to disambiguate and only cyclists would be returned. The issue was only for case when only exactly 1 item is returned for the name and this person is unfortunately not a cyclist. Let's see by next ranking import how many cyclists are missing ;). Create a team season

edit

Started creating a women's team for 2021 for "d:Q84725423". On WD there is a similar team, but male (d:Q115694258). Instead of creating a new female element, BOT began to edit the male one. Perhaps this is “protection” from creating duplicates - then check the coincidence of the value in the parameter "P2094". If it does not come in, then create. — GAN (talk) 10:36, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply

The bot checks if an article with the same name exists and complete it, yes. Ok, to check P2094 to create different teams. Psemdel (talk) 15:32, 24 January 2024 (UTC)Reply
