ജർമനിയിൽ ജനിച്ച ഒരു ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് ജന്തുശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും, മൽസ്യശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും, തവള ശാസ്ത്രജ്ഞനും ആയിരുന്നു ആൽബർട്ട് ഗുന്തർ (Albert Karl Ludwig Gotthilf Günther). (റൊയൽ സൊസൈറ്റി ഫെലോ), അഥവാ Albert Charles Lewis Gotthilf Günther (3 ഒക്ടോബർ 1830 – 1 ഫെബ്രുവരി 1914) ഗുന്തറിനേക്കാളും ഈ മേഖലകളിലെ പഠനങ്ങളിൽ മികവു കാണിച്ചിരുന്നത് ബോലിംഗർ മാത്രമായിരുന്നു.[1][2]

1867 -ൽ റൊയൽ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടേ ഫെലോ ആയി തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട ആദ്ദേഹം 1975 -76 -ൽ അതിന്റെ വൈസ് പ്രസിഡണ്ടായി. ലണ്ടൻ ജീവശാസ്ത്ര സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ കൗൺസിലിൽ ഏതാണ്ട് 40 വർഷം അദ്ദേഹം സേവനം അനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു. ലിനിയൻ സൊസൈറ്റിയുടെ ഫെലോ ആയി 1877 -ൽ തെരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെട്ട അദ്ദേഹം 1896-1900 കാലത്ത് അതിന്റെ പ്രസിഡണ്ട് ആയിരുന്നു. 1874 -ൽ ബ്രിട്ടീഷ് പൗരത്വം കിട്ടിയ അദ്ദേഹം 1914 ഫെബ്രുവരി 1 -ന് ക്യൂ ഉദ്യാനത്തിൽ വച്ച് മരണമടഞ്ഞു.[3][4]
