Much of my work is concerned with place and psychogeography (particularly the landscape of the Peak District). My first collection 'Division Street' (Chatto & Windus) was published in 2013 and my second collection 'No Map Could Show Them' (Chatto & Windus, 2016) looked at the history of women's mountaineering. My first novel 'Black Car Burning' is forthcoming from Chatto.
I'm a poet who is interested in whether poetry and neuroscience can have a useful conversation and what form such a dialogic relationship might take, focusing on the work of Paul Muldoon, John Burnside and Norman MacCaig - my PhD (completed at The University of Sheffield) contained qualitative interviews with a range of contemporary poets.
I blog about poetry, psychology and place writing here: https://helenmort.wordpress.comedit
