    This study reports the biochemical profile and in vitro biological activities of the aerial part of two shrubs: Halocnemum strobilaceum and Suaeda fruticosa, a halophytes species native to saline habitats. The biomass was evaluated by determining its physiological properties and approximate composition. Hydro-methanolic extracts from Halocnemum strobilaceum and Suaeda fruticosa have been investigated for the inhibition of bacterial growth, the protection of proteins (albumin) from denaturation, and cytotoxicity to hepatocellular carcinomas (Huh-7 and HepG2). Their antioxidant activity was evaluated by five tests, including one that examined their ability to inhibit hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-induced hemolysis. The profile of their phenolic compounds was also determined.     Herbal plants represent a new source of hypoglycemic antidiabetic drugs; haematological and histopathological studies of methanol extract of Deverra tortuosa in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats were investigated in vivo. A single intraperitoneal injection of 160 mg/kg bodyweights of streptozotocin was used to cause diabetes. Blood glucose levels were tested with an AccuCheck Advantage II glucometer and blood glucose test strips. After diabetes was confirmed, animals were orally treated with the extract, metformin, and insulin according to the experimental design. After extract therapy, histological alterations in the pancreas of diabetic rats were investigated. When compared to a control group, daily oral administration of D. tortuosa extract (300 mg/kg body weight) plus metformin (100 mg/kg) had a positive effect on blood glucose levels as well as showed an increased number of white blood cells (WBCs) and red blood cells (RBCs).     Two known polyphenols named apigenin 7-O-β-d-glucopyranoside (S1) and querctine-3-O-glucoside (S2), along with another two new compounds apigenin 4'-geranyl-8-glucopyranosyl-7-O-α-glucopyranoside (S3) and apigenin 4'-pernyl-8-glucopyranosyl -7-O-α-glucopyranoside (S4), were isolated from the leaves of Cupressus sempervirens. Structure elucidation of the isolated polyphenols was established on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analysis like 1D and 2D NMR analyses including 1H NMR, 13C NMR, COSY, DEPT, HMQC, UV, and Electron Spray Ionization Mass Spectroscopy (ESI-MS). Density Functional Theory (DFT) of computational, Petra/Osiris/Molinspiration (POM), and docking analyses methods were applied in the structural validation of new isolated compounds.     In this study, Thymus numidicus Poir. plant material was collected from two different locations in north-western Tunisia and the aerial parts essential oils (EOs) were extracted via hydro-distillation. Gas chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and flame ionisation detection (GC-FID) were used for the qualitative analysis and quantification of the volatile constituents. Thymol (50.1-52.8%) was identified as the main compound of both EOs. To evaluate the potential application of the EOs as antifungal agents, the in vitro inhibitory effects were tested against six fungal strains; a strong antifungal activity of one sample was observed (MIC = 40-400 µg/mL). The in vitro antiproliferative activity was investigated on two human cancer cell lines, i.e. the colonic (HCT116) and breast adenocarcinoma (MCF7) using the colourimetric MTT assay.     As part of our ongoing collaborative effort to discover the anticancer activity of the phenolics isolated from terrestrial plant sources, the EtOH extract of the aerial parts of the Egyptian medicinal plant Diplotaxis harra (Forssk.) Boiss. was in vitro investigated for cytotoxicity against HCT116, HepG2 and MCF-7 cell lines, and resulted with IC50 = 4.65, 12.60 and 17.90 µg/ml, respectively. Doxorubicin (+ve control) showed in vitro cytotoxic activity with IC50 = 3.64, 4.57 and 2.97 µg/ml, respectively. The production of AgNPs was established by the appearance of brown color. The manufactured AgNPs were characterized by UV-Vis spectrophotometer, X-ray diffractometer, and FTIR spectrophotometer.     Abstract The volatile components of the aerial parts of Santolina chamaecyparissus, an aromatic plant of North region, Saudi Arabia, were analyzed in two season by GC and GC-MS. Among the 39 compounds identified, major components were Curcumene, alpha-terpinol, p-cymene, 1,8-cineole and caryophllene oxide. Quantitative variations have been characterized following the season. Oil extract of the aerial parts of the medicinal plant Santolina, was in vitro investigated for cytotoxicity against A549, HCT116, HepG2 and MCF-7 cell lines, and resulted show high cytotoxic activity against HepG2 with (97.7 %), but resistance to other cell lines, The percentages of inhibition related to the reference drug (doxorubicin), as long as people are looking to alternative forms of medicine and relaxation such as aromatherapy in this review we confirm the use of one of these medicinal plant as antitumor agent.

    The study was designed to investigate the anti-inflammatory and composition of essential oil of two plant family Asteraceae, Achillea fragrantissima and Lactuca serriola growing under dry desert condition. The anti-inflammatory effect of volatile oil extracted by hydrodistillation of plants was studied using carrageenan induced paw edema. Essential oil (100 mg/kg) and (200 mg/kg) were tested the two plant show high inhibition after 4 h, concentration (200 mg/kg) show high inhibition than (100 mg/kg) after 4 h. Sesqui sabinene hydrate, Azuline and α-Bisabolol are the main constituents of the volatile oil were investigated by capillary GC (gas chromatography) and GC-MS (gas chromatography-mass spectrometry). The discussion shows the role of chemical compound azulene in inflammatory inhibition.

    Five main flavonoid glycosides were isolated from the ethanolic extract of Diplotaxis harra (Cruciferae), and were identified as quercetin, isorhamnetin 3‐rhamnoside, isorhamnetin 3‐o‐rutinoside, isorhamnetin 3‐glucosyl‐4`‐rhamnoside and isorhamnetin 3‐o‐β‐glucoside. These compounds were identified according to their Rf values, partial and complete acid hydrolysis, UV, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and 2D NMR (HSQC, HMBC) spectroscopy. The alcoholic extract of plant was evaluated against some bacterial strains which showed moderate antibacterial activity, while petroleum ether extract doesn't show any activity.

    The current study investigated the levels of multi pesticide residues in the highly consumed types of Nile fish in Egypt: tilapia and cat fish. A total of 50 Nile tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus) and 50 African catfish (Clarias gariepinus) were collected from two areas in Assiut city, where most industries are situated and where agricultural activities and raising of farm animals are the main activities. In the first area, Elwasta, there is an electrical power station, and the second area, Mankbad, there is a cement factory. Fish samples were analyzed by High Resolution Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry. Average pesticide residue concentrations±SE in muscle of tilapia and catfish (n = 10 pooled samples with five fish each) were determined.     The chloroform fraction of methanol (MeOH) extract of the aerial parts of Launaea mucronata was in vitro investigated for cytotoxicity against HCT116, HepG2 and MCF-7 cell lines, and resulted with IC50 = 20.0, 18.6 and 14.30 μg/mL, respectively. The chloroform fraction of the MeOH extract was subjected to further fractionation, which led to the isolation of two new coumarin compounds (6-isobutyl coumarin and 6-isobutyl-7-methyl- coumarin). The structures of the new compounds were elucidated by high field 1D and 2D NMR and ESI-MS spectroscopies. Low polar fractions revealed the isolation of other known triterpene compounds which were identified according to its spectral data and comparison with the literature. New coumarin compounds show high cytotoxicity against MCF-7, HCT116 and HepG2 cell lines.

    ABSTRACT A new flavonoid kaempferol-7,8-diglucoside was isolated for the first time along with two known flavonoid compounds, kaempferol and quercetin, from the methanol extract of Farsetia aegyptia Turra by chromatographic techniques. Two coumarin compounds were isolated and identified from the plant extract. The plant extract contains phenol, catechin, p-hydroxybenzoic acid, gallic acid, pyrogallic acid, p-coumaric acid, and coumarin compounds, which were identified by authentic samples using HPLC. The new compound and alcoholic extract of the plant were evaluated against some bacterial and fungal strains. They showed maximum inhibition against Klebsiella pneumonia. Moderate effects were observed to Aspergillus niger, while the extract did not show activity against Candida albicans.
