The study was designed as pretest- posttest experimental design model. The study was participated by 4th year primary education students studying in the primary school located in the center of Artvin province in 2012-13 academic year. The students in the experimental group were taught the topic with animated cartoon films while the control group was subjected to conventional education. The students were given an achievement test as pre and post tests before and after the program. The data were analyzed by t-test. It was found that the experimental group is much more successful than the control group. This result shows us that the animated films are much more effective than the conventional education in teaching the of topic earthquake.
