Mayara Bello

I am a Bachelor of International Relations at PUC-Rio, Brazil. During my graduation I chose to specialize my studies in two major fields: International Technical Cooperation and Academic Research. In 2011, I was chosen to receive a fellowship from the Institutional Program for Scientific Initiation (PIBIC) and to be an assistant for other teachers in the area, which helped me to gain a lot of experience and also to produce knowledge. In 2012, I took a trip to Africa where I could prove my proficiency in the English language and my adaptability to different situations that were presented to me. I could also try to give back in a small way to South Africa, working in the Red Cross Hospital at Cape Town as a Play Volunteer in oncology sector. When I got back, I realize that working with human rights was what I wanted to do, so I did an online volunteer through United Nations for the NGO Delta women.  After all the experiences and all the study, I found myself engaged with the area of human rights, especially regarding gender and it is in this area that I have focused my current academic production, writing about rape, memory and the violent reproduction of the international during Bangladesh Independence War and in its post-conflict period.

Nowadays, I was selected to be part of a continental programme called  “JÓVENES LÍDERES DE LA UNASUR POR UN DESARROLLO INTEGRAL Y PARA LA INTEGRACIÓN REGIONAL" or Young Leaders of UNASUL for Development and Regional Integration, organized by the University of Bariloche (UBA) and Latin American Development Bank (CAF).

In 2015, I hope to find a masters programme related to gender to enroll in.
