The main aims of this current study were to assess the quality of sleep and to find the association between socio-demographic proforma and quality of sleep among college students. The non-experimental cross-sectional study design was adopted. The study included 100 college students studying in two medical colleges in Omar Al-Mukhtar University, El-beida, Libya. The samples were selected by the stratified sampling technique. The data was collected using socio-demographic proforma and the quality of sleep scale prepared by the investigators. The study findings showed that 3% of college students had an excellent sleep, 23% had a good sleep, 73% had fairly bad sleep, and 1% had very poor sleep. There was an association between the number of siblings and the quality of sleep. This current research study was designed to investigate the effect of using the combination of metformin and glipizide over using every drug alone in the treatment of women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Thirty (30) women with PCOS were divided into three groups, group I received glipizide (5mg/day) for three months, group ΙΙ received metformin (500mg/day) for three months, and group ΙΙΙ received glipizide (5mg/day) and metformin (1000mg/day) as combination drugs for a similar amount of treatment. The blood samples were drawn before treatment and after three months of treatment. The fasting plasma glucose, insulin, testosterone, and leutinizing hormone (LH) were measured before and after treatment. Self-medication may be associated with side effects and increases the chance of drug interactions and also affects the potency of treatment and quality of life. This study aims to estimate knowledge, attitude and pharmacy practices concerning the usage of the drugs without prescription and identifying demographic factors that could influence self-medication among the consumers of community pharmacy in Derna- Libya. Cross-sectional study was conducted among 389 participants randomly selected depending on multi-stage random sampling technique. Data were collected by using a structured questionnaire distributed over 10 different regions in Derna city. The risks of dyslipidemia and cardiovascular diseases are well known to be increased in diabetic patients. Moreover, the therapeutic response of fenofibrate drug on blood serum lipid is also known. However, previous studies did not compare the outcomes of fenofibrate on blood serum levels in patients with type II diabetes mellitus with non-diabetic patients. The purpose of this study was to analyze the outcomes of fenofibrate on blood serum lipid profiles in hyperlipidemic patients with type II diabetes mellitus compared to hyperlipidemic patients without diabetes mellitus. This study was conducted on 40 type II diabetic patients and 30 non-diabetic patients. Their ages varied 30-55 years and all of them were hyperlipidemic. Language in general and language in particular can be studied from different points of view • The field of linguistics as a whole can be divided into several subfields according to the point of view that is adopted. General linguistic generally describes the concepts and categories of a particular language or among all language. Like most academic disciplines, linguistics has been divided into numerous overlapping subfields. In order to study language at a closer level, scholars have broken down linguistics into various branches for easy study. We also refer to this as levels of language study. Language, as a very complex phenomenon, has been broken down into more manageable components for easy study. We can see these components from three (3) broad categorisations: Phonology, Grammar and Semantics. Embedded in these 3 major categorisations of the level of language study are the forms and functions of language. Under phonology, we study phonetics and other speech-related disciplines; under grammar, we consider syntax, morphology and other related fields while under semantics, we deal with meaning of utterances in their various shades. Lexical relations (antonymy, synonymy, hyponymy, etc.) come under semantics. Other concepts such as intentional meaning, conventional meaning, connotation, denotation, etc. all come under semantic. In addition, applied linguistics falls into this category also. Let us see each of these branches of linguistics or levels of language study as shown below: Linguistics is the science of language. It is the subject whose practitioners devote their energy to understanding why human language is the way it is. They study the history, acquisition, structure, and use of as many languages as possible. The work of linguists falls into two main areas: language structure and language use. Linguists interested in language structure consider the formal properties of language, including word structure (morphology), sentence structure (syntax), speech sounds and the rules and patterns between them (phonetics and phonology), and meaning in language (semantics and pragmatics).

Consecutive interpreting of medical discourse is a ‎stressful process, where interpreters face several difficulties. Thus, interpreters tend to use problem-solving strategies, such as omission, approximation, paraphrasing and consulting documents. Though such ‎strategies are frequently and commonly used by interpreters, they ‎cannot deliver a fully accurate meaning. The present study empirically introduces the use of a terminology management application, namely InterpretBank. It is proposed to be an essential tool for consecutive interpreters to deliver more accurate specialized terminology in interpreting the medical domain than traditional methods. While diaspora is a common experience that many nations are subjected to for varied, inevitable reasons; retaining one’s identity on foreign lands is a personal choice of integrity and loyalty to one’s homeland and origins. In this view, this thesis aims to shed light on different faces of displaced people’s adopted identities as represented in diaspora literature. The thesis, thus, expands the scope of diasporic study by integrating ethnic literature and postcolonial theory into an analytical framework, with the aim of studying the diaspora experience in the novels 'Dongola' by Idrīs Ali and 'How the García Girls Lost Their Accents' by Julia Alvarez from a comparative perspective. With the Dominican-American Yolanda and the Nubian-European Awad Shallali as the characters in focus, the thesis explores the matrix of diasporic consciousness and transnational identity by applying Bhabha’s notion of hybrid identities’ unhomeliness, Berry’s fourfold model of acculturation, and Du Bois’ theory of double consciousness. The findings conclude that both Yolanda and Shallali initially experience unhomeliness as they fail to belong to either their original culture or the foreign one, hence why both adopt different acculturation techniques to overcome their alienation. Ultimately, Yolanda embraces her double consciousness and biculturalism, fastening the knot between both her identities—whereas Shallali acts as a European and severs himself from his Nubian ties.


إن شتات الشعوب تجربة قاسية تسببها عوامل مختلفة لا مناص منها، إلا أن احتفاظ الفرد بهويته في ديار الغربة ما هو إلا اختيار شخصي يرتكز على الولاء للوطن والأصل. في الستينيات، تم إجبار كل من الدومينيكان والنوبيين المصريين على التشتت في مختلف بقاع الأرض لأسباب اقتصادية وسياسية مختلفة، وتم تصوير تجاربهم مع الشتات في العديد من الأعمال الروائية، والتي تتمحور حول الهوية الثقافية للنازح خارج حدود موقعه. في ضوء ذلك، تهدف هذه الأطروحة إلى تسليط الضوء على الأوجه المختلفة للهويات التي يتبناها النازحون كما يمثلها أدب الشتات، وبالتالي فإن الأطروحة توسع نطاق دراسة الشتات عن طريق دمج مفاهيم الأدب العرقي ونظرية ما بعد الاستعمار في إطار تحليلي. الهدف من الرسالة هو إجراء دراسة مقارنة لتجربة الشتات في رواية (دنقلا) لإدريس علي و(كيف فقدت فتيات غارسيا لهجاتهن) لچوليا ألڤاريز. من خلال التحليل الدقيق لشخصية الدومينيكية الأمريكية (يولاندا) والنوبي الأوروبي (عوض شلّالي)، تطبق الأطروحة مفهوم (هومي بابا) حول الهوية الهجينة وبقائها عالقة بين الثقافات، بالإضافة إلى النموذج الرباعي لـ(چون بيري) حول تقنيات التثاقف، وأخيرًا نظرية (دو بوا) للوعي المزدوج. تُشير النتائج إلى أن كُلًّا من (يولاندا) و(شلالي) توافقان في البداية في عدم انسجامهما مع ثقافتهما الأصلية والأجنبية، ما دفعهما لتبني تقنيات مختلفة للتثاقف بهدف التغلب على اغترابهما، وفي نهاية المطاف تتقبل (يولاندا) وعيها المزدوج وثنائيتها الثقافية، محققةً تناغم بين جانبيها الدومينيكي والأمريكي؛ بينما يعزز (شلالي) هويته الأوروبية ويقطع صِلاته بأصله النوبي والعربي.
