Good health is the key to happiness and prosperity. An attempt has been made in the present paper to examine the issue of quality of life from varied perspective resulting in delineating different indicators of quality of life. For example, material prosperity, poverty health etc. These indicators have been divided into objective and subjective indicators of quality of life. Objective indicators of quality of life include economic and social indicators. Whereas, subjective indicators are conceptualized and measured in terms of the experienced sense of well-being evaluated in terms of happiness, satisfaction with one’s living conditions etc. Review of literature has shown that quality of life warrants attention in the Indian context. Therefore, an attempt has been made in the present study to study Quality of life among arts and engineering students of Pune city. The sample consisted of 639 second year students from arts and engineering stream. The data were collected from various colleges of Pune city. Quality of life was measured with the help of Com QOL scale by Cummins (1997). It is a multidimensional Likert scale. The tool is psychometrically sound. Data were analyzed with the help of SPSS 15.00. Obtained results are discussed with the help of existing theories and earlier findings. Implications of the study in the light of arts and engineering course have been discussed. • Key words: Quality of life, Wellbeing .

Inclusive Education - Case study of Ankur Vidya Mandir. Inclusive education implies the conception and the implementation of a vast repertoire of learning strategies to respond in a personalized way to learners’ diversities. In view of the current condition of education such a structure will facilitate the betterment of all parties involved. It provides prospects to physically, mentally and socially challenged students as well as to normal students. Considering the importance of Inclusive education which address the issues of access and participation by all, National Policy on Education in India has given an importance to this. The present paper is based on the case study of Ankur Vidya Mandir which is based on Inclusive education and equality in educational opportunities approach. Started in 1988, Ankur Vidyamandir is a venture by COER (Centre for Opportunities in Education and Rehabilitation) and DES (Deccan Education Society). It is unique because it accommodates normal as well special students in their curriculum. The students come from diverse backgrounds, lifestyles and mental capacities and thus, Ankur Vidyamandir creates an exceptional environment for its students. It aims at starting, promoting and sustaining activities that uphold and assist in integration of individuals with varying abilities into ‘normal’ society. It functions on the basis that the best way to impart knowledge is to provide a supportive yet challenging environment for the students. The children do not learn in seclusion but they learn, play and evolve together.

The current study examined the association among personality traits, resilience and the earliest memory. A total of 61 undergraduates (51 female and 10 male) between ages 18 to 22 were recruited in Beijing. The sample consisted of 61 undergraduate students from Beijing (51 females and 10 males). They were administered the Sixteen Personality Factors (16PF) and the Chinese version of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC) respectively. The earliest memory was assessed with the help of self-report questionnaire. The results showed that there was a significant positive correlation between the resilience and the earliest. The positive cognition was associated with personality traits, such as emotional stability (C), dominance (E), liveliness (F), social boldness (H) and apprehension (O). The positive cognition completely mediated the relationship between the earliest memories and personality traits such as E, H and O. The impact is achieved through the positive cognition which is part of resilience. The results show that the earliest memory plays a significant role in interpretation of character in stories. Keywords: the earliest memory, personality traits, resilience, positive cognition

The central question addressed in the study is whether there are differences in resilience across gender and socio-economic classes among adolescents. To answer this question, 308 late adolescents between the age range of 16 to 18 years and who have migrated to Pune city for the purpose of education were included in the study. The Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD; RISC, 2003) developed by Kathryn Connor and Jonathan Davidson was used to measure resilience. Socio-economic status was measured using the Socio-Economic Status Scale (rural) by Dubey and Nigam (2005). Independent 't' test was used to analyze differences in resilience across gender and socio-economic groups. Results revealed that no significant differences on resilience were found between adolescent boys and girls and also between the socio-economic groups. Findings have been discussed in the light of relevant literature.

The Kusasi-Mamprusi ethnic conflict in Bawku, a border town located in the extreme Northeastern corner of Ghana, which began in 1957, has become protracted. The two factions have clashed four times between 1980 and 2000. The disagreement has been over who should occupy the Bawku skin( a titled chieftaincy position) as Bawkunaba and control the Bawku land, as land ownership is tied to occupancy of the Bawku skin. Scholarly works on conflicts in Northern Ghana, have traced the root causes to the introduction of chieftaincy by the British colonial administration in the area. The policy that amalgamated smaller states with big kingdoms, created a subordinate-master relationship between the Kusasi and Mamprusi. Proponents of colonial government’s complicity argue that attempts by the Mamprusi to maintain the status quo during the post-colonial Ghanaian government, has provoked the recurrent ethnic conflicts between the two groups. This paper, situated within a broader historiographical c...

The present study aims at finding out the relation between happiness and Personality (HEXACO personality factors) among college going students. The sample comprised of 954 (356 males and 598 females) respondents from various colleges in Pune city. Tools administered were happiness scale developed by Uichol Kim and HEXACO PI R (2000) by Ashton and Lee. Data were analyzed using Pearson’s product moment correlation; t test was used to find out gender differences on happiness and personality. Regression was calculated to find out the relative contribution of personality on happiness. Obtained results showed that happiness was positively correlated with extraversion while honesty was negatively correlated. Results of the t-test showed males scored higher than females on honesty, conscientiousness and openness to experience, while females score higher than males on emotionality and happiness. Commerce students scored more on happiness compared to arts students. Results were discussed with the help of review of literature and theoretical foundations. Implications in terms of designing the intervention program for the students to increase the happiness in relation with personality have been discussed.
