Eric Costa is currently a postdoctoral researcher at Solent University, Southampton, UK. He is also an external research collaborator at the Institute for Systems and Computer Engineering, Technology and Science (INESC TEC), Porto, Portugal.
He has a PhD in Industrial Engineering and Management from the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP) in Portugal, since 2018. His doctoral research aimed to study and design information management and collaborative network solutions to improve the support provided by industrial business associations to the internationalisation of SMEs, following a design science research approach.
He accomplished his MScEng degree in 2012 in the field of Industrial Engineering and Management at the University of Minho in Portugal. His MScEng dissertation was performed under the topic of Lean Management, with the aim of analysing and reducing setup times of metal-mechanic machines of an industrial company.
His current research interests include design science research, digital platforms, collaborative networks, information management, industrial business associations, and SME internationalisation.

Results showed that this project was considered very successful by all the stakeholders. Almost all participants of this experience demonstrated interest in taking part on it and evaluated this type of project as relevant for all. Unquestionably, these projects should keep on existing.
Neste projecto pretendeu-se analisar um sistema produtivo de uma secção de uma empresa nacional, identificando todos os problemas existentes para, posteriormente, se poderem propor melhorias. Este artigo centra-se na avaliação das condições de trabalho dos operadores da empresa, recorrendo-se, para tal, à utilização do método Ergonomic Workplace Analysis (EWA). Este método permite analisar vários parâmetros que influenciam o bem-estar e o conforto dos operadores, sendo então possível sugerir algumas alterações para que as suas condições de trabalho sejam melhoradas. Para averiguar se as soluções propostas são válidas e aplicáveis realizaram-se inquéritos aos operadores e entrevistas aos chefes de produção.
