This research is aimed to investigate how significant the implementation of POEW model improves the students' writing ability. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental method with two pretest-posttest group design. This research was implemented to the third semester students of English department of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare in academic year 2016/2017. The researcher treated the students by implementing the POEW model in teaching writing. After that, the students were tested again as in pretest to know their ability after being treated through POEW model. Then, the data analyzed quantitatively by using 21.0 version of SPSS program.The result indicated that the students who were treated through POEW model have significant improvement in their writing ability than the students who were not. Where, the significant value (0.000) is lower than the probability value (0.05). It means that there is significant difference between the students' writing ability before and after being taught through POEW model where the students' writing ability improved significantly in posttest (after being taught through POEW model). The mean score of posttest of the students in experimental class (72.40) is higher than the students in control class (62.46) which is indicated that the students ability in the experimental class is better than the students in control class. The students ability in experimental class was improved from 61.24 to 72.40 while in control class only from 61.36 to 62.46. Besides that, the standar deviation in experimental class (7.832) is also lower than in control class (8.364) which indicates that the students ability in experimental class is more alike than in control class

This study focuses its investigation on the effectiveness of authentic video in improving the students’ writing skill. The participants were 42 (22 for the experimental group and 20 for the control group) second semester students majoring in English Education Department at Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare. A quasi-experimental method with two pretest-posttest group design was applied to gain the data. In the process of using the video, there were some types of video used such as documentary, educational video, tutorial video, news, and entertainment video. Those were assumed as videos that show the authentic English language culture in the EFL classroom. Writing is still considered as a difficult skill in language learning by Indonesian students. For that reason, it is urgent for teacher to seek for interesting ways to teach writing in the classroom. This study examines the effectiveness of the use of peer feedback technique to improve students’ skill in writing descriptive paragraph. Some studies have proved the effectiveness of the technique to improve students’ writing skill. The study employs experimental research in which one class of 20 students is taught to write narrative paragraph and correct their paragraph using peer feedback technique. The result of the study shows that the technique improves the students writing skill in narrative writing, however the scores are not significant. This suggests that there is a factor that affects the result of the teaching using peer feedback, and it is the less time of treatment which is indicated as the factor.

<p>The present critical discourse analysis investigated opinion about the red-white flag controversy when Zohri became world Champion run 100 U-20 in Finlad of the social media, such as: YouTube, Facebook as well as Online News. Theoretical framework of this study is imbedden within Van Dijk's sociocognitive approach to understanding media influence in reproduction of prejudice and stereotypes. The analysis revels that red-white flag controversy is evaluated negatively. In addition, the number of evaluations with implied negative meanings increased over the opinion some famous people. By focusing on the responsibility of government didn't care athletics, this study contributes to further development of the theories about relationship athletic and social power.</p>

This research aimed to found the type of impoliteness they use d and how far it influences the relationship each other. This research was conducted using qualitative research, more specific including as discourse analysis. The population were the English students of Universitas Muhammadiyah Parepare and the subject were two students of the sixth semester. The data were collected by observation, interview, Recording and the data analysis using discourse analysis method namely by extracting all of the conversation to be analyzed. The result of this research showed that (1) the three types of impoliteness used in the verbal communication of the students outside of the classroom. As the application of the four competencies for the lecturers in teaching and learning becomes a new business for them to fulfil those competencies (pedagogical, professional, personality, social). This impacts the provision of a new method for students in learning activities so that a teacher could develop a curriculum per the respective educational unit and the local needs of each student. The first pedagogical competence deals with a lecturer's ability to manage the classroom and facilitates the students’ diversity. Sometimes lecturers apply different pedagogic actions to students' perceptions so that what is supposed to be good by lecturers sometimes inversely with students’ intake. This study aimed to facilitate the students' perception regarding the pedagogical perception of a good lecturer. The result is supposed to be some consideration from the lecturer in applied pedagogical action in the classroom.
