Champion

This study used the narrative theory to understand what makes a champion. Life stories of five Filipino elite athletes were read, interpreted, and analyzed using the holistic-content approach to narrative analysis. Global impressions yielded a romantic typology of narratives portraying the champions as heroes on a quest. An optimistic tone and steady progression toward clearly-defined goals characterized the narratives. Focal organizing themes revealed their passion for sport, striving beyond excellence toward perfection, discipline and determination, goal orientation to achieve performance objectives and life aspirations, and optimistic views of adversity to explain how champions were able to endure challenges and achieve exceptional feats in sports and life. Findings were discussed to surface contributions to the theory of​ exceptional performance and recommendations for research and practice.

The present study examined relationships between transformational leadership, valence, and employee championing behavior in the settings of the Bangladesh banking sector during organizational change. In total, 300 responses from the employees of the Bangladesh banking sector were used to assess the transformational leadership style, valence and employee championing behavior while managing change. To test the proposed hypotheses, structural equation modeling was utilized. The results showed that transformational leadership style had a significant positive relationship with employees' valence and championing behavior during organizational change. Also, valence had significant positive relationship with the championing behavior at the time of organizational change. Besides, employee championing behavior partially mediated the relationship between transformational leadership and employee championing behavior while managing change in the organization. The observed associations and mediation were consistent across the prior empirical studies. The findings provide insights into how transformational leadership style corresponds with employees’ championing behavior in the context of organizational change.

Immortality and gaining eternal life are the man’s oldest desires. He extends these intra-desires on his champions of myths. Champions of several myths and legends, experiment the eternal life differently, whiles death is the destiny of all. So, many believe that champions will be renewed after their symbolic death. Yung looks on all champions’ lives as sun and assesses champions’ eternal returns as the man’s request to access his initial comfort. This research analyzes the archetypal lives of three Iranian mythological champions, experimenting death and renovation in three different ways, fulfilling the human’s old desires.
