Bludgeon takes inspiration from Grant Morrison.

The Decepticon Vengeance Division is a Decepticon battle fleet formed for vengeance. That's what Bludgeon says, anyway, and you can trust him, right?

Fiction

2005 IDW continuity

After end of the Great War, there were many Decepticons scattered across the galaxy who refused to return to a peacetime Cybertron under Autobot or neutral rule. Their scattered cells formed an impromptu intelligence network, watching and waiting for a call to arms. Starscream, anticipating an inevitable existential threat, tasked Bludgeon with assembling the Decepticon remnants into an organized fighting force, Stranger Eons unaware that he was once again playing into Shockwave's goals, the cyclopean scientist having need of the massive fleet to rebuild the Decepticon Empire. Road's End Assembly

When Bludgeon had unified all the cells, they came with an impressive fleet of warships, including Worldsweepers, War Worlds, Worldburners, and every other type of Decepticon capital ship ever built.

When Unicron began attacking the Cybertronian colonies, Bludgeon led his newly-formed Vengeance Division into combat, pinpointing the elusive planet-eater's location through the DVD's intelligence network. Using a stasis web developed by Bludgeon to keep their foe from escaping, they blasted Unicron with all the world-destroying firepower they possessed... to no effect, as this was a ruse; Bludgeon proving to be secretly in league with the Chaos-Bringer. Not only did the Decepticon Vengeance Division's firepower fail to make a dent in their opponent, but Unicron simply teleported out of the web, and Bludgeon subsequently welcomed Unicron's supporters, the Maximals, aboard his flagship. Stranger Eons

Now allied with Unicron, the Decepticon Vengeance Division accompanied him to Cybertron, its ships and crews both jaggedly mutated into new Maximal-like forms via the power of Ore-11. The ragtag Autobot fleet defending Cybertron moved to engage them, but quickly proved to be no match for the DVD's might. Bludgeon's lead Worldsweeper duelled Carcer and took it to pieces; when Victorion boarded it, seeking to cut off the Division's head, Bludgeon simply summoned Monstructor and had her dismembered. Though the DVD had annihilated all resistance, a significant number of their ships had been destroyed, including all their Warworlds. Once the Autobot ships had been destroyed, the DVD stood by as Unicron began ripping Cybertron apart. Our Finest

Once Unicron had destroyed the planet, the DVD quantum jumped to Jupiter where they opened fire on Sanctuary Station, destroying it completely. Road's End

As a result of the Talisman's removal from Cybertron, Unicron had not died with the Transformer homeworld. Once Shockwave had found the artifact's new resting point, he hailed the DVD to send a squad of Maximals to retrieve it and kill Unicron themselves. Bludgeon chose this moment however to announce his loyalty to the Chaos Bringer, deploying the Maximals from his Worldsweeper to retrieve the artifact so that Unicron could consume Earth with no risk to himself. No sooner had they been dispatched did the combined forces of Cybertron, Earth, and Elonia mount a direct assault on Bludgeon's flagship... all so Optimus Prime's group could sneak past the fleet with the Talisman and destroy Unicron. Assembly Caught off-guard, the depleted DVD soon fell to the might of the army with only the flagship Worldsweeper managing to slip past the enemy line and begin an attack on Earth where it violently crash landed.
