Rewind orchestrates the mass production of Nightbeat-type Headmasters in his search for data.
Synopsis
Rewind introduces himself to an unseen figure, explaining that he's recently upgraded into a new body and seeks to record all the knowledge in the world, his most recent obsession being the mysteries surrounding the Masterforce system. He begins to tell a story...
It begins with Rewind providing the Autobot Axalon Trading Company with blueprints for Master-Braces that anyone can use to become a Headmaster, unlike the original braces which could only be used by certain chosen children. It's not long before all Axalon employees are wearing mass-produced braces, with Rattrap excitedly showing off his Headmaster form to Hardhead and Chromedome and displaying its power by tossing Hardhead across the room. Wanting to try out transtectors, the Headmasters proceed to swarm over Blurr, removing his head from his body and stealing it.
The Headmasters then make their way to Decepticon Tera-Kura Co., mobbing the company leadership and demanding they build them transtectors. They're joined by Rewind, who blows away the Decepticons with his tank mode and has the Headmasters steal their bodies: having taken Blaster's advice to follow his dreams to heart, he seeks to acquire rare combination data by having the mass-produced Headmasters combine with bodies. When Rattrap joins with the Galvatron body, however, Tarantulas activates its brainwashing mask, causing him to attack Rewind. Fortunately, the Master-Braces choose that moment to stop working, reverting Rattrap and the other Headmasters to their normal bodies. Rewind hides away in his device mode during the chaos, contemplating that this data suggests that only special children can control the braces after all.
Rewind finishes telling the story, revealing the mysterious figure to be Nightbeat, professional detective and wielder of the prototype Master-Braces that the mass-produced version was based on. With Rewind's help, Nightbeat sets out to solve the remaining mysteries.

Notes
- This story introduces the previously Hasbro-only character Nightbeat into the Japanese continuity.
- Nightbeat is wearing the traditional deerstalker cap of Sherlock Holmes as well as a trenchcoat much like the one he wears on the cover of "The Big Shutdown!".
