Synopsis
Logging in the Brazilian rainforests, developers accidentally awaken two ferocious robot dinosaurs—Grimlock and Snarl!
Meanwhile at the Ark, Jazz and Blaze complain at having their spare time interrupted by a warning alarm: a Transformer power emission in Brazil. Wondering if it's Decepticon shenanigans or an Autobot in distress, they set off with Optimus Prime to investigate, but their musings are overheard by Laserbeak, who reports back to Megatron.
Upon arrival in Brazil the Autobots are ambushed—Jazz is knocked offline by a swing of Snarl's tail and Optimus is surprised by Grimlock. Before he can retaliate he is blasted by Starscream, who is quickly joined by Megatron and Soundwave. Blaze, the sole standing Autobot, valiantly tries to stop the powerful Decepticons, but his sparks are ineffective against them. Swatting him aside, Megatron turns his attention to the Dinobots and has Soundwave throw a plasma net over them, ready for transportation.
Unfortunately for the Decepticons, the plasma net interacts with the Dinobots' Transformer circuitry and causes a negative ion feedback. There is a blast and when the smoke clears, Grimlock and Snarl have transformed into robot mode. They send the 'Cons packing and Snarl is ready to chase after them, but Grimlock insists they catch up with Optimus Prime first. He explains that he and the other Dinobots were still partially active when the Ark crashed and that when its computer had reconstructed them to resemble the dominant lifeforms, they effectively became dinosaurs. The meteorite strike that wiped out the dinosaurs also deactivated Grimlock and Snarl and they have been dormant since then.
Grimlock says that he and Snarl will remain behind to locate their missing comrades. Blaze begins to berate him about abandoning the fight against the Decepticons but Optimus interjects, explaining that the Dinobots will join the Autobots in their own time. He and Grimlock shake on it with a clang.

Errors
- Blaze is drawn and coloured as Sizzle in robot mode. In car mode, he's drawn as himself but in Sizzle's colours. This isn't the first time the Sparkabots have gotten mixed up in the UK comics.
- A real Triceratops is shown in a flashback to penetrate Grimlock's metal skin with its horns.
Items of note
- This story serves as an introduction to the Dinobots in this continuity and so does not mesh with any previous continuity that features them.
- Megatron claims that he is one of the "first to be forged in the molten heart of Cybertron", which may be true in this continuity, but the introduction to this annual—"From Cybertron to Earth the War Continues..."—states that Megatron was a "minor Decepticon" when the war began and that the Transformers "evolved" on Cybertron. Megatron may be exaggerating.
- The Dinobots are solar-powered.
- There are only four Dinobots in this continuity. The other two are not named, but they were probably intended to be Slag and Sludge, since Swoop was never released as a toy in the UK.
