IntroductionModern neurotechnology research employing state-of-the-art machine learning algorithms within the so-called “AI for social good” domain contributes to improving the well-being of individuals with a disability. Using digital health technologies, home-based self-diagnostics, or cognitive decline managing approaches with neuro-biomarker feedback may be helpful for older adults to remain independent and improve their wellbeing. We report research results on early-onset dementia neuro-biomarkers to scrutinize cognitive-behavioral intervention management and digital non-pharmacological therapies.MethodsWe present an empirical task in the EEG-based passive brain-computer interface application framework to assess working memory decline for forecasting a mild cognitive impairment. The EEG responses are analyzed in a framework of a network neuroscience technique applied to EEG time series for evaluation and to confirm the initial hypothesis of possible ML application modeling mild...

One of the most common questions in today's cognitive studies is the one regarding embodied cognition. The answer to this question draws our attention to many factors, including bodily actions, which also work to embody cognition. With this in mind, enactivism is included in discussions of embodiment. In the current issue we present texts in which a focus on enactivism itself is the leading topic.

Information technology becomes important part of the current state of the art within health sciences. It allows to gather and analyze biomedical signals and data sets in the more efficient way, and provide better insight into evidences due to metabases and decision support systems based on computational intelligence. Social changes, development of IT systems and shortages in number of specialists, specialistic equipment and budget can stimulate quicker development of cheaper semi-automated solutions increasing both accurateness of the diagnosis and the safety of patients. This chapter aims to describe the concept of the development of the heath care and professional training based on current achievements within technology, education, E-Health and patient-tailored therapy. The authors try to answer the question: how current results can be developed and incorporated into scientific research and clinical practice?

ABSTRACT This paper addresses the problem of designing closed-loop control of emotion based on affective measures and computing. The work is focused on design rule base control system that serves for positive emotion state stabilization. The proposed approach is based on analyzing of breathing signal. The measured signal is analyzed according to features important for emotional changes. Knowing emotional state of person and desired level of affect should allow to modify it through knowledge base engine. Closed-loop control system is a fuzzy rule base that is designed on fuzzy model of breathing time series and data base of affective images. Proposed system may constitute basis for the whole family of new tools. All results are illustrated with examples.

Cognitive robots constitute a highly interdisciplinary approach to the issue of therapy of children with developmental disorders. Cognitive robots become more popular, especially in action and language integration areas, joining the experience of psychologists, neuroscientists, philosophers, and even engineers. The concept of a robot as a cognitive companion for humans may be very useful. The interaction between humans and cognitive robots may be a mediator of movement patterns, learning behaviors from demonstrations, group activities, and social behaviors, as far as higher-order concepts such as symbol manipulation capabilities, words acquisition, and sensorimotor knowledge organization. Moreover there is an occupation to check many theories, such as transferring the knowledge and skills between humans and robots. Although several robotic solutions for children have been proposed the diffusion of aforementioned ideas is still limited. The review summarizes the current and future ro...

Research on the computational breath analysis constitute important part of current challenges within the medical sciences, artificial intelligence, and biomedical engineering. Despite efforts of scientists and clinicians current results seem be not satisfying. Computational models of breath processes based e.g. on fuzzy logic may constitute another breakthrough in aforementioned area offering completing position to the current state of the art, both in the area of theoretical and experimental computational neuroscience, and clinical applications. Aim of the study was to find out whether is true if our new concept of intelligent breath analysis system can constitute another step toward better analysis and understanding of the aforementioned processes.
