I am the author of "The Making of Working-Class Religion" (Illinois, 2016) and a number of papers, reviews, and related writings. From 2009 to 2020, I taught history at Augustana University (SD), where I was the Orin M. Loftus Distinguished Professor. In the fall of 2023, I will begin a full-time position at Texas Tech University. In the spring of 2024, I completed an MA at the Jonathan B. Murray Center for Documentary Journalism, part of the Missouri School of Journalism. My film, "Cowboy Strike," explores the cultural legacy of the 1883 cowboy strike in the Texas Panhandle, and won the Stacey Woelfel Award for Innovation in Journalism at the 2024 Stronger than Fiction Film Festival.edit

In doing so, he must rethink the meaning of the mythic legacy of the American frontier.
