Sine Celik
Sine Celik's research focuses on social innovation networks. She is a part of Design for Sustainability section of TU Delft where she works as a PhD candidate under the supervision of Prof. Han Brezet, Dr. Peter Joore and Dr. Linda Wauben.
Societal shifts are forcing the community and the creative industry to find new forms of collaboration, especially when entrepreneurship and design thinking are almost becoming daily habits. These habits change the definition of innovation and take this concept out of technological companies. But how can these bottom-up design-based initiatives contribute to the socio-cultural and economic strengthening of problematic areas? And how will designers position themselves in these emerging networks? Sine is looking for the answers to these questions and testing her findings in the province of Fryslan in Netherlands.
Sine Çelik majored in architecture (TU Delft) and minored in urban design (KTH Stockholm). She has received her MSc degree in 2012 from the faculty of Architecture and Built Environment in TU Delft with a specialization on computational design. Her graduation project was focused on optimizing large-scale sports venues in order to achieve environmentally and economically harmless Olympic Games. Next to her academic activities she practices as a freelance architect under Sine Celik Architecture. She believes that being associated with different design disciplines enable her to develop a holistic approach in her research.
