Method 16 recovered patients after a single episode of MDD were matched with a control group (age, gender, years of education and socioeconomic level). PCP was assessed via the EMBU ("Egna Minnen av Barndoms Oppfostran", "my early memories"), a swedish self-report inventory. PPC
Results. Depressive patients report their early parental care as dissmissing. Overprotection was barely reported. Differences with control group reached statistical signifance (p<0.05).
Discussion This data may contribute to support the hypothesis that early care experiences could play a role in the development of psychopathology in adulthood.

Methodological issues concerning premorbid personality and depression are analyzed. It is pointed out that different operational definitions regarding both personality and depression, the deficient nosological differentiation of depressive disorders, the choice of assessment evaluation tools and also the temporal point of evaluation could explain some of the observed disagreement in this field. Finally, currently data about premorbid personality and depressive disorder is critically reviewed. Available data shows that unipolar depressive subjects seems to be psychologically and socially more disturbed than bipolars (BP). Furthermore, assessed by different psychometric tests, BP subjects are almost undistinguishable from control groups. Further research should also take into account the subtle differences between the subtypes of depressive disorders in order to obtain a more comprehensive understanding of this problem.

In other words, adherence is strongly related to the degree to which the patient includes himself, his mental processes and its environment in a meaningful narrative of his illness. At the same time, they expect and desire that the treatment of their illness include both the somatic (e.gr. AEDs treatment) and the psychological factors related to their illness. These findings emphasize the importance of considering the patient's subjectivity in the process of adherence to treatment in epilepsy. These factors can establish the difference between adherents and non-adherents patients, including the related clinical, psychosocial, and economic consequences.
