This knowledge is understood from content and vehicle points of view. Formative assessment strategies were designed and experimented with 14 participants in a mathematical modeling course offered to pre-service teachers in a Colombian university. Thematic analysis was conducted on lesson plans built by pre-service teachers. In those plans, they evinced knowledge of class management, mathematics teaching, problem solving, and modeling teaching. Finally, the collective construction of assessment rubrics is highlighted. Its contributions and limitations as a formative assessment tool are reported. The role played by the advisors’ feedback and support to pre-service teachers is also presented.

Abstract: This article presents a typology of modelling tasks that arose from analyzing some proposals reported in mathematical modelling. The analysis is focused on the reference that the statements provide about the contexts and reality, as well as the purposes, scope and limitations that emerge when the tasks are implemented. This typology provides four categories and their respective subcategories to illustrate characteristics of the tasks, which would take into account for the mathematical modelling in the classroom. In addition, each category provides some possibilities and limitations that would contribute to decision-making regarding the task-type choice for both, mathematical activity in the classroom and research.

de los fenómenos asociados al contexto mencionado;

Abstract: This article discusses the results of a case study that describes a student´s covariatonal reasoning to deal with situations of variation associated with quadratic functions. The study was designed to develop a convergent line of inquiry (Yin, 2009) and was focused on the descriptions and actions performed by the student when facing one of the situations of variation. This experience helped the researchers describe the student´s reasoning and discover some implications for both the conceptual
framework addressed in this study and the design of the classroom-oriented situations.""
