In this paper, two forms of presentation of the Iliad Myth are compared: in Homer’s epic novel and in the movie Troy. Mircea Eliade’s definitions of sacred and myth as well as the mythic derivation on Gilbert Durand are used to elaborate a comparative symbolic reading. The goal to draw consequences for the meaning of myth through the description of scenes in contemporary cinema and archaic literature. It is concluded that the erasure of the gods as characters amplifies the human sphere of action, while makes the teaching of exemplary models unfeasible, leaving humanity abandoned to its best instincts, noble feelings morally accepted at a given historical moment.

The text begins by exploring the scope of the perspective of visual discourse andthe limits of taking the image as an argument and arrives to point the need to add elements of imagetheory to discussion in the case of photographs that will become themselves an event.

Since its creation and initial uses, photography was a technology and sociocultural practice disputed in the fields of history and art. However, in the ultra-connected scenario of the 21st century, it stands out with a new use – the selfie. In this theoretical article, some contributions to an epistemology of photography are proposed based on this practice inaugurated by virtual communities, differentiating it from the selfportrait and describing its specific features and symbolic remnants. To discuss this contemporary theme, a discussion was held with Jungian analytical psychology and Durandian imaginary

The journalistic field mobilizes specificbeliefs about the relationship between narratives and real-life, and the sameconstruction of reality is an important issue for the “trajectory of meaning”, asdescribed by Gilbert Durand’s General Theory of Imaginary. Our approach usesmythocritic as a method.

This insulated environment of racial protection builds white expectations for racial comfort while at the same time lowering the ability to tolerate racial stress, leading to what I refer to as “White Fragility”. White Fragility is a state in which even a minimum amount of racial stress becomes intolerable, triggering a range of defensive moves. These moves include the outward display of emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, and behaviors such as argumentation, silence, and leaving the stress-inducing situation. These behaviors, in turn, function to reinstate white racial equilibrium. This paper explicates the dynamics of White Fragility.
