Before the Openlands redevelopment plan is realized they will need the support of the areas residents. The community has not yet been involved in the decision-making process. Protecting the bluff ecosystem and the endangered species maybe Openlands primary goals, the residents in and around Fort Sheridan may have other priorities.
This Public involvement plan will be a guidance tool for Openlands to engage the community in order for the residents to help in protecting the ecosystem by following best practices in watering and storm-water management.

Edge ecologies, at their highest level of functioning, are places of high quality, with increased species activity and diversity. Edge ecology that are out of balance, create a high degree of damage for everyone.

The purpose of traffic calming is to
 reduce collision frequency and severity,
 increasing the safety and the perception of safety for non-motorized users of the street,
 reducing the need for police enforcement,
 enhancing the street environment
 increasing access for all modes of transportation, and
 reducing cut-through motor vehicle traffic studies in Seattle, for instance, have shown dramatic reductions in motor vehicle crashes after traffic calming.
