Building Information Modelling (BIM) is the process to develop and enhance the process of work to ensure the accuracy in the scope of work and efficiency in the documentation are less error during the construction project. Having the knowledge and proficiency for interior designers on the required tasks and scope of work for interior designers are critical as a tools to manage interior project. This study is to emphasize the significance of knowledge and skill among interior designers in Malaysia while implement BIM in the interior projects. This research was conducted through preliminary study by choosing interior design firms in Klang Valley. Sixteen (16) interior design firms were choose randomly in this survey. The survey were conduct through questionnaire survey and discussion with the interior design expertise. The data was analysed the elements of barrier and key factors the enhancement of knowledge and proficiency for interior designers in Malaysia.

This paper study on the traditional tower house in Old City Sana’a as known as Bab al Yemen. It focusing how the local context with lifestyle and culture determine the traditional architecture and design in Bab al Yemen and different regions of Yemen and Arab regions, according to nature, climatic conditions, culture, traditional values, and native knowledge. Overview for architecture and design during the twentieth century, civilisation and the Islam perspective in the Arab region, and selected the traditional tower house in Yemen as a case study. ABSTRACT Ablution is one of the prerequisite activities to pray which consists of procedure that involves water to a particular body to clean itself from small impurities. This is call wudhu in the Arabic word. In order to make the wudhu is in the perfect order; it is required to perform certain actions in correct sequence. The ablution area is very important to ensure the users' comfort and satisfied while taking the wudhu. Users often complain of inadequate size of the ablution area and narrow space when taking wudhu. To perform a prayer in a comfortable situation, a good ablution's condition and space is also important because in Islam, the cleanliness is a very important aspect especially when someone wants to pray. Therefore this research focused on the significance on concept and design elements in the ablution area. These elements of design and concept were discussed in this study to make sure that the right and suitable aspects of design of the ablution area can be design and construct accordingly to the needs of the users. The design for the ablution area either in the mosque or the prayer rooms in the shopping centres should take a consideration of different types of users; the normal users, the elderly and the disabled. INTRODUCTION In the world population, Muslims people cover about 20 – 25% of the world population which is Islam is the majority almost in 40 countries [4]. With the high percentage of Muslims ordinary doing their practice the Islam, including prayers, the needed for Muslims is to design, build and maintain the prayer space in the whole of the world. Some designers, either Muslim or non-Muslim, are interested to design either mosque or a praying facility in shopping mall, an exhibition hall, an airport, or other public building [11]. Wudhu or ablution is one of Islamic procedure for washing parts of the body using water for preparation of formal prayers (Solah). According to [3], ablution comes from ―Al-Wadha'ah‖ which means cleanliness and brightness. While [6] defines ablution as an act that in physical and spiritual. Ablution is a state that must be achieved as a prerequisite prior to Muslim prayer, in order to do so; one must perform wudhu or ritual cleansing and purification. The ablution function involves cleaning with fresh water certain parts of the body in a certain steps and according to right order. This paper study on the traditional tower house in Old City Sana’a as known as Bab al Yemen. Malay craftsmen have created a practical and functional living shelter known as Malay traditional house. The Malay house is designed in a simple square form. Square form creates a practical space that is easy to organize household items. The houses are constructed using medium weight fiber material—timber. Timber is easy to cut and form house structure elements such as floor, roof trusses, and wall stud. The combination of form and space creates many design elements used by occupants to serve, organize, and sustain the Malay way of life in a traditional Malay house. The scope of research is focused on Melaka traditional house, the earlier Malay civilization in Peninsular Malaysia. The analysis focused on house components of the structure and spatial activities in the house. In conclusion, the elements’ integration of form and space in Malay traditional houses has revealed the existence of built-in furniture. The main function is to organize household items and to store utensils and equipment.

Environmental noise pollution is recognized as a major problem for the deterioration of the quality of life in urban areas. Noise emission, especially from Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines, affect daily activities and can lead to a range of health disorders such as cardiovascular problems and poor task performance. The study aims to determine the impact of noise pollution from the LRT network on the teaching and learning processes at schools within the City of Kuala Lumpur. The study employs a multi-methodology approach on a number of schools in selected zones within the City Council of Kuala Lumpur. Site visits and observations were performed on the schools concerned. Opinion survey questionnaires were disseminated to evaluate the attitudes and views of the current situation. On-site noise level measurements were undertaken to substantiate the opinion survey. Building Information Modelling (BIM) is a process to improve and innovative tools for visualize the design phases, to coordinate the projects and to communicate the drawings and documentations as well as innovative technology in the construction industry. In Malaysia, BIM previously implemented by Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) but in the Interior Design (ID) industry is a new approach and the lacking of knowledge is the issue for interior design industry to implement BIM. This research is to identify the key factors of BIM implementation in the interior design industry from the analysis of research and literature review. Mixmethod was applied in this research and data were analysed to identify the key factors in this research. Research was found several of key factors in the interior design industry while using BIM in Malaysia. These factors will be isolated as variables and barriers for BIM implementation.

The design process is a preliminary to design the space and development of the process to build a building by the further systematic layout and appropriately. Through the design phases, designers are capable to prepare the drawings and organize the documents using by Building Information Modelling (BIM). This technology and innovation be able to enhance the performance of interior design services by improvement of skill and knowledge. These researches are to classify the element of services in the interior design and to evaluate the effectiveness of BIM usage in design process for the interior design industry. BIM is imperative for industry players to be the best construction by technologies implementation. Through this study, the number of sixty-three interior design firms was chosen and limit to surrounding in Klang Valley registered with Lembaga Arkitek Malaysia (LAM). The survey was conducted through the questionnaire survey and the data collection will be analysed to grant significant information in BIM adoption for interior design services.

The development of technology enquires interior design (ID) industry to be more consistent efficient and have made this industry involved in BIM. Implementation of BIM in the interior industry is important to enhance knowledge and designing process in ID. BIM is a process that uses innovative technology in the building design, construction, and management. This study evaluates the implementation of BIM in terms of readiness, awareness and barriers in interior designing within Malaysia context. A pilot study was conducted on sixteen samples which are the ID firms involved to identify factor affecting the implementation of BIM in ID industry. Findings of the study show that a poor knowledge and implementation BIM in ID firm in Malaysia context. This research were started with pilot survey method which is sixteen firms were chosen randomly to get the overview in the current situation implementation of BIM in ID industry. The significance from this study is to enhance the knowledge and usage in BIM among the ID industry.

The purpose of this paper is to reveal the furniture in the Negeri Sembilan traditional house kitchen. The furniture is essential to determine the lifestyle, environment and social activities. Studies on the origins of the Malays enable us to understand the background and social life of traditional Malays, which eventually led to their civilization. Data analysis is focused on kitchen area in Negeri Sembilan traditional houses, since it is the most active area in the house. The definition of furniture through an interview with experts plays an important role in defining furniture categories, types and usage. The significant activities in the kitchen are analyzed to define the furniture function. In conclusion, Malay furniture which exists in the kitchen of traditional Negeri Sembilan houses is categorized into three functions - body-supporting unit, storage/utility and tool. The furniture is designed into two types - loose item and built-in with house structure. The furniture was basically simple, but the design is direct to the basic needs of user and kitchen function.

The purpose of this research is to study the effectiveness of the natural ventilation system in the traditional Yemeni tower houses in the Old City Sana’a in Yemen. This study revealed that the effectiveness of the natural ventilation in the tower houses is determined by the type of opening system being used. Hence, the opening elements and design support the ventilation. The types of windows and the courtyard in the tower house have been identified. The research involved observation, site measurements and questionnaires to investigate and analyze the effectiveness of openings for natural ventilation surrounding the tower houses. Information gathered from the survey was analyzed based on the respondents responds. This study concluded with occurred result based on the data collection and data analysis recommendation for more efficient ventilation system in the future.

This paper seeks to present the furniture usage in Malay traditional house spatial organization. Data analysis is focused on Anjung/Rumah Tangga, Serambi, and Rumah Ibu area. Qualitative research is analysed from the literature review and case study at Maliah Idin’s Melaka traditional house at Jasin, Melaka. The study found that the structure of the Melaka house played a significant role in creating built-in and loose type furniture. Noise emission, especially from Light Rail Transit (LRT) lines, affect daily activities and can lead to a range of health disorders such as cardiovascular problems and poor task performance. The overall result revealed that noise from the LRT lines has significantly affected its neighborhood and disturbed the classes of the adjacent schools considerably. Recent developments of urban elevated roads and commuter network in Kuala Lumpur have caused annoyance and poor environmental quality and health disorders. The study concludes that local authorities involved in the physical development and environmental control have to work together to overcome and resolve the problem. Subsequently, this is to ensure that schools in Kuala Lumpur are safe and secure from environmental noise pollution. Some suggestions to overcome these problems have been recommended either through legal and non-legal procedures.

The study intends to investigate the level of willingness respondents, level of preference and satisfaction in organize to provide a description of the Yemeni houses criteria, unique features and future conceptions for comfortable and spatial functions. In this approach, the true study characteristics of the houses in the area could be rediscovered for future reference. The study starts with literature description on the general overview of location, geographical divisions, climate and spatial design elements. The study describes the spatial design house in Old City Sana’a, variations in traditional houses in Old City Sana’a, the problems and factors affecting the design of traditional housing in Old City Sana’a. The field survey method has been chosen for this research by preparing some method such as observations, measurements and questionnaires to study the comfortable and spatial functions from the respondents that include the landlord, public people and the professional organizations. In conclusion, this study will intend the design guidelines and recommendation for future house of design criteria in Old City Sana’a. This includes design aspects related to the house layout, the application of traditional design, the traditional building material, the Islamic values in house design, the exterior appearance of the house and thermal comfort conditions.
