Hense, diversity of culture is, as often argued in recent times, about to face an extinction and a uni-dimensional 'social values' worldwide is about to surface. The study seeks to develop a theoretical framework to explain the reasons of the global culture and analyze the latest World Value Survey (WVS) data of the array of the pronounced social values prevalent in both high-income nations (i.e. Netherland, Singapore) and low-income countries (i.e. Zimbabwe, Rwanda) to obtain some evidences in regard to this argument. Analyzing certain prevailing ideologies, the research indicates that societies globally are making scientific and technical progress and moving towards a unidimensional social value. Evidence suggests that the 'Global culture' is less likely to preserve the traditional values and more likely to favor the unconventional and the revolutionary forces that work as the instruments of change. The invocation of progressive transition and the faith in technological progress are bringing an extensive level of value shifts.

The study examines the aforementioned hypothesis by matching the overall relationships of " Top of the Mind Awareness " with that of consumer brand preferences and usage. A survey was conducted in Dhaka city among the regular users of FMCG categories. The results revealed that customer purchase the brands that exist in the top of their mind in case of shampoo, toothpaste, lip-gel, carbonated soft drink, packaged tea and toothbrush categories. However, there is a great chance of customers brand switching in the categories of toilet soap, wrist watch, mobile handset, footwear and services such as cellular connections. Based on the findings the companies could develop promotional strategy so that their brand remains in the top of their customers mind and in some cases could compel customer to switch to their brands.

However, in recent years, particularly its large cities like Dhaka have experienced a widespread and growing use of plastic products that posits the threat to pollute the environment as well as creates health hazards and hinders sustainable development. Furthermore, the unscrupulous traders who refill thousands of empty plastic bottles with unclean tap water make the situation worse. The country needs some adequate steps to restore and sustain the ecological balance and before taking any initiative it is imperative to explore the measures that the developed countries have employed to manage their plastic bottle disposals effectively. The Container-deposit legislation (CDL) is a widely used initiative that entails a series of financial refund on smooth-drink, juice, milk, water, alcohol-beverage, and other reusable packaging at the point of sale. When the bottle or container is returned to an authorized redemption center, or to the unique vendor in a few jurisdictions, the deposit is partly or fully refunded to the redeemer, presumed to be the unique purchaser. The study explores different schemes that the North American countries, European and the Scandinavian Nations have adopted, identifies the problems they faced, analyzes the present condition of Dhaka city and attempts to explain how and why the legislation need to be implemented in Bangladesh.

Due to the frequent commingling of a wide range of reusable, or recyclable, and non-recyclable surplus electronics, the term "e-waste" infer all sorts of these leftovers. Even though the economic benefits are potentially enormous, only a small proportion of the electronic waste is being recycled all around. There is a transaction cost associated with the recycling process due to the environmental protection regulations, hence economically less attractive at the industry level in developed nations. However, to the least developed nations where owing to low living standard the demand for the better quality environment is low, even nonexistent, recycling e-waste has become a livelihood earning opportunity. The study intends to interpret the socio-economic consequences of e-wastes by focusing the detrimental effects that it have created in China and Ghana, and attempts to outline what developing nations like Bangladesh can do to prevent or reduce the harmful consequences of it.

The rise of the middle class stipulates the enhancement of the shopping environment; hence witnessing a substantial increase of the number of the supermarkets in developing countries like Bangladesh will not be surprising. A number of urban supermarkets in recent times start selling perishable foods that were once available in Bangladesh only in flea markets (Kaccha Bazaar). However, due to the lack of proper infrastructure, agro-based perishable food reaches the urban market via a long process of chain mediations and raises concerns about quality and price for both retailers and consumers. Very often the attitudes of consumers regarding perishable foods are unknown and their preferences remain unidentified. This high level of uncertainty regarding the attitude of consumers and the unpopularity regarding overall food quality need to be resolved to ensure the continuity of the business and guarantee the quality of the products. This has made the study of the consumers’ attitude towards perishable food, especially relevant for emerging economies like Bangladesh. The data is collected from one hundred (100) consumers, who buy food regularly from both super-shops and flea markets in Dhaka city. The collected data are analyzed in terms of factors like importance, expectation and perceived actual level of value to show the gap in terms of perishable foods involved.
