ENGLISH: The Worldview of Western Mexico through the Shaft Tomb Tradition, with Emphasis on the Bolaños Culture. The presence of deities in Western Mexican shaft tombs is proposed through the first iconographic interpretation of hollow figurines deposited as offerings in the tombs, particularly those of the Bolaños culture. The creators of the shaft tomb tradition may have held a worldview and a cosmogony distinct from those of Mesoamerica.

It was that a group of people from the State of Jalisco relocated and settled in the Bolanios Canyon to establish a commercial route between the center of the State and the North of Mexico. This hypothesis is based on the circular architectonic pattern and the shaft tombs which are representative of the Bolanios Canyon and the center of the State of Jalisco. Because of generalized pathology of skulls (thickening of the frontal bone) conducted by other research projects along the Bolaños Canyon, we know now that these people originated from the same ethnic group.

Recent research has highlighted the relevance of resident and recruited ATs immune cell populations and their signalling mediators, cytokines, as modulators of the thermogenic activity of brown and beige ATs. In this review, we first provide an overview of the developmental, cellular and functional heterogeneity of the AT organ, as well as reported molecular switches of its heat-producing machinery. We also discuss the key contribution of various interleukins signalling pathways to energy and metabolic homeostasis and their roles in the biogenesis and function of brown and beige adipocytes. Besides local actions, attention is also drawn to their influence in...

Using interleukin18 (Il18) and Il18 receptor 1- knockout (Il18r1-KO) mice, this study aimed to investigate the role of IL18 signaling in BAT and iWAT activation and thermogenesis under both stimuli. Il18-KO, extremely dietary obesity-prone as previously described, failed to develop diet-induced thermogenesis as assessed by BAT and iWAT Ucp1 mRNA levels. Overweight when fed standard chow but not HFD, HFD-fed Il18r1-KO mice exhibited increased iWAT Ucp1 gene expression. Energy expenditure was reduced in pre-obese Il18r1-KO mice and restored upon HFD-challenge. Cold exposure lead to similar results; Il18r1-KO mice were protected against acute body temperature drop, displaying a more brown-like structure, alternative macrophage activation and th...

Their occupations are chronologically dated between 100 years BC and 1260 years AD, and extended from southern Zacatecas to the mouth of the Rio Grande of Santiago, in the center of Jalisco, Mexico. The basis of their development was the exchange of artifacts for products and raw material that didn’t exist in the western Mexican region. Here, the archaeozoological study performed with the bone remains recovered in excavations from the “El Pinon” archaeological site is presented. Corresponding interpretations allowed to reconstruct the natural and cultural environment. The identified fauna consisted, in a preliminary analysis, consists of 3333 specimens. More than 250 individuals were identified from cremated, burnt or worked bone and teeth, including: rabbit, hears, squirrel, mole, dog, mountain lion, lynx, peccary, deer, turkey, duck, quail, green macaw, amo...
