In the article, the author reflects on contemporary museology and cultural anthropology paradigms that focus on participation and collaboration to include people from vulnerable groups in the museum work. The article presents how the paradigm shift to participation or collaboration changes the epistemological value of experiential knowledge related to cultural heritages and the way museums work. Finally, the author shows how three experimental participatory, collaborative practices in national museums with the change of perspective on people?s role from passive visitors to active collaborators also changed the perspective on their vulnerability and presented a valuable tool for better social inclusion. Through participatory approaches, museums can gain more social relevance in contemporary society.

The author presents her six months’ research experience at the National Museum of Contemporary Art in Bucharest in 2017. She took part in the reconstruction of the museum and the setting up of the nearby neighbourhood of Rahova-Uranus. She describes this cooperation between museum staff (curators and management), young artists and some of the Roma residents of Rahova-Uranus. She introduces the promising and important role of the knowledge of ethnologists and cultural anthropologists in participative museum projects.

V nadaljevanju preko pogleda zaposlenih v muzejih podata evalvacijo projekta, s katerim so se omenjena teoreticna izhodisca implementirala. Gre za projekt Dostopnost do kulturne dediscine ranljivim skupinam, ki ga je med letoma 2013 in 2015 vodil Slovenski etnografski muzej v sodelovanju z drugimi nacionalnimi muzeji in galerijo. ABSTRACT
The article presents modern museology concepts in the 21 st century, including participation, inclusion, and accessibility, and investigates the changed ways of working and responsibility of museum workers. The views of the museum workers are then used to evaluate the project that implemented the above mentioned theoretical premises. The project Accessability of cultural heritage to vulnerable groups was carried out by the Slovene Ethnographic Museum in collaboration with other national museums and the gallery between 2013-2015. The authors conclude that the needs of the public require changes to museum work and emphasize the demand for new employments.
