If, broadly speaking, we may say that the English-speaking world has been more interested in gender studies; the French-speaking half is the origin of a renewed interest in the representations of space. Theories developed by Michel Foucault, Marc Auge, Michel de Certeau, Henry Lefebvre, Jean Baudrillard and Felix Guattari have contributed to the emergence of a true "spatial turn."Thus the conference Gendered Divisions of Space, organized by Ramona Mihaila (coordinator of the English section) and Mihaela Chapelan (coordinator of the French section), brought together a mix of scholars from 16 countries: Albania, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Finland, France, Greece, Hungary, Ivory Coast, Italy, Morocco, New Zealand, Poland, Romania, Tunis and the United States. The conference was opened by the keynote...
