The series named Cartas Reales, from the fond of the Real Cancilleria is stored in the archive of the Crown of Aragon. It consists of heterogeneous documentation on loose papers, ordered by kings, coming from the royal records office and as well as from the different institutions that interacted with the Crown.
These documents are, for the most part, the royal correspondence and therefore, they became crucial in understanding many events concerning the Crown. These papers were notably used in the XIXth century to reconstruct the Crown’s policies in the Mediterranean during the late Middle Ages following the, often strenuous, occupation of “Italian” territories such as Sardinia, Sicily and Naples.
Regarding Sardinia, a project involving both archival science and palaeography and diplomatics is taking place. Within this project, a traditional paleographical edition – made with the help of the digital portal PARES – is supported by an open-source software for archival description. Through an attentive examination of the series relating Alfonso the Magnanimous (1416-1458), which consists of more than 4000 archival units, has been identified the documents concerning one of the periods of highest political stability in the Regnum Sardiniae et Corsicae.
In this way, a series that can be complicated to research on, because of its variated composition – it not only comprehends originals but rough papers or directly inside communications of the records office –, becomes a reliable documentary source to study Sardinia in the XVth century.

Cagliari's Pisans towers were built at the beginning of the XIV century and are known by the names of San Pancrazio, Leone and Elefante. They are the pride and symbol of the city. This article, through a critical analysis of different sources available to the historians, aims to solve the problem of a fourth denomination: that of Aquila. This name led many scholars, from the beginning of the 20th century until nowadays, to embrace different schools of thought about the correct denomination of these towers.

The present research aims to provide new perspectives concerning the church dedicated to San Lorenzo and San Pancrazio, located in Buoncammino, Cagliari. The project is based on new studies in both the historical and artistic field, as well as the recent archival excavations that took place in the Archivio Storico del Capitolo della Cattedrale di Cagliari.
