The interpreters never stop ruminating on the meaning of Franz Kafka's novel. Now it's my turn. The purpose of this contribution is to analyse the role of shame in Kafka's work and, more specifically, in Der Prozess. Shame is often understood as a passion that renders the subject passive and unable to act. My hypothesis is that shame can also be understood as a potentially emancipatory passion, since it can help to produce human solidarity. Based on this hypothesis, I propose an interpretation of Der Prozess that can explain the meaning of Josef's shame at the moment of his execution.

Especially in The Essence and Value of Democracy (1920-1929) and Foundations of Democracy (1955-1956), Kelsen discusses the connection between democratic pluralism and epistemological and moral relativism, arguing that one cannot be given without the other. In the essay, I analyze Kelsen's argument, focusing on the critical and problematic implications of the absolute relativism he defends.

The first is Franz Kafka, the second Carl Schmitt, the third John Maxwell Coetzee. The thesis of the essay is that the political-theoretical framework formulated by Schmitt, who saw the friend-enemy pair as the criterion for the identification of the political, can ben problematized through two texts: Kafka's Beim Bau Der chinesischen Mauer and Coetzee's Waiting for the Barbarians. In conclusion of the essay, I highlight some aspects that may be useful in understanding the hostilising dynamics of our time.

The proposed interpretative hypothesis is that they represent the materialization of the protagonists' anguished states. In conclusion, I propose a parallel between Kafka's work and Coetzee's novel Waiting for the Barbarians.

Through the combination of ontological, political, and legal reflection, the article shows the need for a rethinking of the role of borders within the globalized world. The first part introduces the problem of the complexity of the border from its terminological analysis. The second part challenges the idea of the border as a simple object using some ideas from the debate in social ontology. The third part analyses the complexity of the border through the Foucauldian notion of dispositif. In part four, I apply the notion of dispositif to a particular border, namely the wall. In the conclusion, it is suggested that the problematization of borders implies the questioning of the spatial-political structures inherited from modernity. In this conceptual rethinking, the role of law is of primary importance and a global constitutionalism is an option that is as viable as it is necessary.

After the solutions initially proposed by Bartolus of Saxoferrato and Baldus de Ubaldis to establish the exact extension of the territorial sea, the debate became paradigmatic thanks to the querelle between Grotius (author of Mare liberum) and Selden (author of Mare clausum). The dispute continued with the analyses of Paolo Sarpi, Cornelius van Bynkershoek, Immanuel Kant and Ferdinando Galiani. The controversy over territorial seas is one of the crucial moments of the modern age. In it, the relationship between the agency of the subject and the space is radically rethought, proposing two theoretical diagrams: an ontological-political one, in which the subject is a function of the space; a geometrical-political one, in which the space is a function of the subject. The essay traces this debate identifying the theoretical issues on which it is based.

In the first part of the paper, we show the contradictory nature of globalization; in the second part, we analyze statal walls as a spectacularization of statal sovereignty; in the third part, we claim that statal walls produce a problematic process of subjectivation; in the fourth part, we argue that walls are a dialectic overthrow of borders; in the last part, we show how the politics of fortification invade contemporary cities. In the end, we suggest that contemporary fortification trend can be understood as a symptom of a global paranoia.

In this article I propose, starting with an analysis of some themes from the essay published in 1923 Die geistesgeschichtliche Lage des heutigen Parlamentarismus, to challenge this interpretation. An in-depth analysis of Schmitt's critique of parliamentarism and identitarian democracy may, in fact, suggest that his proposal is a normative theory of political enmity.

Benjamin believed that the novel's protagonist, Lesabéndio, represented the 'true politician'. Through an in-depth analysis of Scheerbart's novel, it is indeed possible to address crucial questions such as the relationship between technique and politics, the temporality of political action and happiness. At the end of the article, critical insights into Benjamin's political philosophy are offered.

Even though this text, published in 1921, has been almost forgot- ten by philosophical literature, we suggest it can be reconsidered in its hidden critical potentiality. The paper is structured as follows: after a brief consideration on Walter Benjamin’s uses of Unger’s thesis, the essay investigates the biopolitical and messianic vocabulary used in Politik und Metaphysik, which is, at the end, an attempt to actualize the biblical imagine of the exodus. At the end, the paper suggests further lines of research.

At the end, the paper suggests under- standing human migration as a critique of the world.
