C., Egeria, una donna d’alto rango e dalla grande cultura, compie un pellegrinaggio verso i luoghi santi che hanno visto fiorire il Cristianesimo, lasciando un resoconto scritto dei suoi viaggi, la Peregrinatio Egeriae; nella Pars Prima di tale itinerarium, la pellegrina annota informazioni preziose riguardo le eulogiae ricevute in dono dai monaci ed i mirabilia, cioè luoghi che destano meraviglia e stupore o che vengono visti attraverso gli occhi della fede; accanto a queste informazioni Egeria ci informa occasionalmente anche sulla gestione e l’organizzazione del paesaggio agrario nei luoghi visitati nel corso dei suoi quattro itinerari nell’area medio-orientale.

This paper shows the results of the second excavation campaign in the Chiesa Madre "S. Maria Assu... more This paper shows the results of the second excavation campaign in the Chiesa Madre "S. Maria Assunta" in Laurenzana (PZ, Basilicata, Italy), from 14 to 29 december 2009. It confirms the medieval origins of the church and the absence of of pre-existing dwellings; it has also been possible to clarify the construction operations of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, which are accompanied by the continuous funerary usage of the undergroud rooms.

The third phase was in second part of XVIII century.
The life of the church was accompanied by the burial use of the underground rooms, under the floor of the building; the particular burial condition have helped the natural mummification of the deads. Many damages were caused by the earthquake of 1980.""

The paper presents examples of baptismal building located in the northern part of the Provincia A... more The paper presents examples of baptismal building located in the northern part of the Provincia Apulia et Calabria: the first group is that of the urban baptisteries, which includes the Baptistery of San Giovanni in Canosa (BT), the two baptismal fonts of Venosa (PZ , Basilicata) and the baptistery of the basilica of Aeclanum (near Mirabella Eclano, AV, Campania). The second group instead the rural baptisteries of San Giusto (near Lucera, FG) and Belmonte (near Altamura, BA). The text takes into account the plant, the archaeological and historical context, the classification in the surrounding area and the type of building and the baptismal font.
